耶穌又設喻訓眾曰：『天國譬諸君王為其子設婚筵；遣僕速被柬者赴讌、皆不至；乃遣他僕曰：「告被柬者我已備筵、宰牛殺牲、百物畢具、請來參與嘉禮。」皆置若罔聞、各行其路、或赴田莊、或赴市場、餘人且執其僕、辱而殺之！君王聞之震怒、發兵進討、殲其眾、火其居。乃謂其僕曰：「婚筵既備、而被邀者無德以稱。可往通衢大街、儘爾所遇、邀之來宴。」僕遂出赴街中盡集所遇、無聞善惡、賓客滿堂。王入視客、見一人無禮服、謂之曰：「友、無禮服安得入此？」其人默然。王乃謂侍者曰：「縛其手足、投之幽獄、必有哀哭切齒者矣。」蓋見召者眾、而蒙選者寡也。』

蓋吾一日寓此塵宅、即一日有予爾激發之天職；且知吾之脫離此宅、即在目前、正如吾主耶穌之所預示也。不寧惟是、吾必欲使爾於吾去世以後、亦隨在留意此訓也。

緣此、爾宜朝乾夕惕；蓋爾不知爾主蒞臨之日也。若家主知盜何時將至、則必儆醒守備、不令穴室。然則爾等亦當備諸；蓋不意之時、人子至矣。

時都中有寅恪之士、名西默翁、平生殷望義塞之慰藉聖神恆與之偕、嘗蒙默啟、生前必得親睹上主之基督。是日、被靈感而詣聖殿、適逢二親懷嬰入、欲行定禮、西默翁接嬰入抱、而頌揚天主曰：『求我主宰、履爾所示、放爾僕人、安然謝世！既見救恩、我心則慰

願我愛友、黽勉自勵；於爾神聖之信仰上、好自建立；常憑聖神之默感、以祈以禱；庶克長遊於天主聖愛之中、而望我主耶穌基督加以慈惠、賜以常生。

『是時、天國將如童女十人、各持一燈、出迎新壻。其中愚者五人、智者亦五人。愚者持燈、而無餘油；智者攜燈、而又貯油於壺。新壻稽遲、皆假寐而寢。子夜忽有聲呼曰：「新壻來矣其出迎之！」眾女乃起而整燈。愚者謂智者曰：「請予我以油；吾燈垂滅。」智者對曰：「共用恐將不給、盍就市購之。」方往沽、而新壻至矣。有備者偕入、同赴婚筵、戶遂扃。愚者後至、叩曰：「主乎主乎、乞為啟戶！」主應曰：「吾實語爾、予不爾識也。」是故爾等當小心翼翼、朝乾夕惕；其日與時、非爾所知也。

凡我兄弟、應安心忍耐以俟主來。夫農夫之望收穫嘉穀、必須弗助弗忘、以待秋霖春雨之膏澤也。爾亦當學農夫之忍耐、堅定爾心。蓋主之來臨不遠矣。
