禍哉、爾法利賽人乎、以爾好會堂高坐、受祝於市、

𠵽唎㘔人、其有禍乎、蓋爾喜會堂高坐、市上問安、

禍哉爾曹法利賽人乎、因爾喜於會堂坐首座、市上喜人問爾安、

哀哉法利塞！蓋爾於會堂喜居首席、於市衢樂受人敬也。

“ Woe to you Pharisees, because you love the most important seats in the synagogues and respectful greetings in the marketplaces.

“ How terrible for you Pharisees! You love the most important seats in the synagogues. You love having people greet you with respect in the market.

Woe to you Pharisees! For you love the best seat in the synagogues and greetings in the marketplaces.

“ What sorrow awaits you Pharisees! For you love to sit in the seats of honor in the synagogues and receive respectful greetings as you walk in the marketplaces.

“ Woe to you Pharisees! You love the front seat in the synagogues and greetings in the marketplaces.

Woe to you Pharisees! For you love the seat of honor in the synagogues and personal greetings in the marketplaces.

Woe to you Pharisees! For you love the best seats in the synagogues and greetings in the marketplaces.

Woe unto you Pharisees! for ye love the chief seats in the synagogues, and the salutations in the marketplaces.

“ Woe to you Pharisees! You love the front seat in the synagogues and greetings in the marketplaces.

Woe to you Pharisees! You love the best seats in the synagogues and elaborate greetings in the marketplaces!

Woe to you Pharisees! For you love the best seats in the synagogues, and the greetings in the marketplaces.

Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts;

And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and[ love] salutations in the marketplaces,And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts:

[ Let] nothing[ be done] through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

And he put forth a parable to those which were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief rooms; saying unto them,When thou art bidden of any[ man] to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him;And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

Pride[ goeth] before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment;And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?

they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues;they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called‘ Rabbi’ by others. (niv)
