凡事不可自私自利、爱慕虚荣，要心存谦卑，看别人比自己强。

耶稣在宴席中看见宾客们都争着坐首位，就用比喻对他们说：“参加婚宴的时候，不要坐在首位，因为或许有更尊贵的宾客来赴宴，主人会把他带到你面前，说，‘请你把首位让给他吧！’你就要满面羞愧地退到末位去了。你去赴宴时，应该先坐在末位，这样主人会对你说，‘朋友，请上坐！’那时，你在宾客面前就有光彩了。因为自高的人必遭贬抑，谦卑的人必得尊荣。”

骄横是沦亡的前奏，狂傲是败落的预兆。

比方说，一个手戴金饰、衣着华丽的人来参加你们的聚会，一个衣衫褴褛的人也来参加，你们就看重那衣着华丽的，对他说：“请上座。”却对那穷人说：“你站在那边。”或“坐在我的脚凳边。”你们这样做难道不是偏心待人，心怀恶意地判断人吗？
