有几个法利赛人和撒都该人来试探耶稣，要求祂显个天上的神迹给他们看。耶稣回答说：“傍晚的时候，你们看见天边出现红霞，就说明天一定是晴天；早晨的时候，你们看见天色又红又暗，就说今天必有风雨。你们懂得分辨天色，却不能分辨时代的征兆。一个邪恶淫乱的世代想看神迹，可是除了约拿的神迹以外，再没有神迹给他们看。”于是耶稣离开他们走了。

当时，有几个律法教师和法利赛人对耶稣说：“老师，我们想要看你行个神迹。”耶稣回答说：“一个邪恶淫乱的世代想看神迹，可是除了约拿先知的神迹以外，再没有神迹给他们看。

他们又问：“那么，你行什么神迹让我们看了可以信你呢？你要做什么呢？

法利赛人出来盘问耶稣，要求祂从天上显一个神迹给他们看看，借此试探祂。耶稣深深叹息道：“这世代的人为什么总是要看神迹呢？我实在告诉你们，没有神迹给这世代的人看。”
