逾越節前六天，耶穌來到拉撒路所在的伯大尼，就是他使拉撒路從死人中復活的地方。有些人在那裡為耶穌預備晚餐，瑪妲正伺候著。拉撒路也在與耶穌坐席的人當中。這時候，瑪麗亞拿了一斤極其貴重的純哪噠香液，膏抹耶穌的腳，又用自己的頭髮擦乾，屋子裡就充滿了香液的氣味。

還有一些從邪靈和疾病中被解脫出來、得了痊癒的婦女，其中有那稱為茉大拉的瑪麗亞，從她身上曾經有七個鬼魔被趕出來，又有希律的管家苦撒的妻子約亞娜，以及蘇珊娜和許多別的婦女，她們都用自己所擁有的來服事耶穌和門徒們。

當她和她的家人受了洗之後，她請求我們說：「如果你們判斷我是主的信徒，請到我家裡來住。」於是她極力挽留我們。
