耶穌反問他：「律法怎麼說？你怎麼理解？」

耶穌對他說：“律法上寫的是甚麼？你怎麼念的呢？”

耶穌對他說：『律法上寫的是甚麼？你誦讀的怎麼樣呢？』

耶穌對他說：「律法上是怎麼寫的？你是怎麼讀的呢？」

耶穌曰、律所載者何耶、爾讀之如何、

曰律法所載如何、爾所讀如何、

耶穌曰、律法所載為何、爾所讀如何、

曰『經何云？』

“ What is written in the Law?” he replied.“ How do you read it?”

He said to him,“ What is written in the Law? How do you read it?”

Jesus replied,“ What does the law of Moses say? How do you read it?”

“ What is written in the law?” he asked him.“ How do you read it?”

And He said to him,“ What is written in the Law? How does it read to you?”

He said to him,“ What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?”

And he said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

“ What is written in the law?” He asked him.“ How do you read it?”

He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

He said to him,“ What is written in the law? How do you understand it?”

He said to him,“ What is written in the law? How do you read it?”

Moses writes about how the law could help a person do what God requires. He writes,“ The person who does these things will live by them.”( Leviticus 18:5)

So is the law opposed to God’s promises? Certainly not! What if a law had been given that could give life? Then people could become right with God by obeying the law.But Scripture has locked up everything under the control of sin. It does so in order that what was promised might be given to those who believe. The promise comes through faith in Jesus Christ.

What the law says, it says to those who are ruled by the law. Its purpose is to shut every mouth and make the whole world accountable to God.

Follow what the Lord taught you and said to you through me. People who don’t speak in keeping with these words will have no hope in the morning.

Do those who depend on the law receive the promise? If they do, faith would mean nothing. God’s promise would be worthless.The law brings God’s anger. Where there is no law, the law can’t be broken.The promise is based on God’s grace. The promise comes by faith. All of Abraham’s children will certainly receive the promise. And it is not only for those who are ruled by the law. Those who have the same faith that Abraham had are also included. He is the father of us all.

The law is not based on faith. In fact, it is just the opposite. It teaches that“ the person who does these things will live by them.”( Leviticus 18:5)Christ set us free from the curse of the law. He did it by becoming a curse for us. It is written,“ Everyone who is hung on a pole is under God’s curse.”( Deuteronomy 21:23)
