On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus.“ Teacher,” he asked,“ what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying,“ Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”

One day an expert in religious law stood up to test Jesus by asking him this question:“ Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life?”

Then an expert in the law stood up to test him, saying,“ Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

And behold, a lawyer stood up and put Him to the test, saying,“ Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”

And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying,“ Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”

And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and made trial of him, saying, Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

When the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees, they came together in the same place.And one of them, an expert in the law, asked a question to test Him:“ Teacher, which command in the law is the greatest?”He said to him,“ Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.This is the greatest and most important command.The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.

A ruler asked Him,“ Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

Then he escorted them out and said,“ Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”So they said,“ Believe on the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved— you and your household.”

Just then someone came up and asked Him,“ Teacher, what good must I do to have eternal life?”“ Why do you ask Me about what is good?” He said to him.“ There is only One who is good. If you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”“ Which ones?” he asked Him. Jesus answered: Do not murder; do not commit adultery; do not steal; do not bear false witness;honor your father and your mother; and love your neighbor as yourself.

But since the Pharisees and experts in the law had not been baptized by him, they rejected the plan of God for themselves.)

For if the inheritance is from the law, it is no longer from the promise; but God granted it to Abraham through the promise.

One of the experts in the law answered Him,“ Teacher, when You say these things You insult us too.”Then He said:“ Woe also to you experts in the law! You load people with burdens that are hard to carry, yet you yourselves don’t touch these burdens with one of your fingers.
