That servant who knew his master’s will but did not get ready or do what his master asked will receive a severe beating.But the one who did not know his master’s will and did things worthy of punishment will receive a light beating. From everyone who has been given much, much will be required, and from the one who has been entrusted with much, even more will be asked.
Therefore you are without excuse, whoever you are, when you judge someone else. For on whatever grounds you judge another, you condemn yourself, because you who judge practice the same things.
If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin. But they no longer have any excuse for their sin.The one who hates me hates my Father too.If I had not performed among them the miraculous deeds that no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. But now they have seen the deeds and have hated both me and my Father.Now this happened to fulfill the word that is written in their law,‘ They hated me without reason.’
Now this is the basis for judging: that the light has come into the world and people loved the darkness rather than the light, because their deeds were evil.
