“ Remember these, O Jacob, And Israel, for you are My servant; I have formed you, you are My servant; O Israel, you will not be forgotten by Me!

“ Listen to Me, O house of Jacob, And all the remnant of the house of Israel, Who have been upheld by Me from birth, Who have been carried from the womb:Even to your old age, I am He, And even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver you.

Is Ephraim My dear son? Is he a pleasant child? For though I spoke against him, I earnestly remember him still; Therefore My heart yearns for him; I will surely have mercy on him, says the Lord.

But Zion said,“ The Lord has forsaken me, And my Lord has forgotten me.”“ Can a woman forget her nursing child, And not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, Yet I will not forget you.See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me.

The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying:“ Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.

As He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets, Who have been since the world began,That we should be saved from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us,To perform the mercy promised to our fathers and to remember His holy covenant,The oath which He swore to our father Abraham:To grant us that we, Being delivered from the hand of our enemies, Might serve Him without fear,In holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life.

“ Have you not considered what these people have spoken, saying,‘ The two families which the Lord has chosen, He has also cast them off’? Thus they have despised My people, as if they should no more be a nation before them.“ Thus says the Lord:‘ If My covenant is not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth,then I will cast away the descendants of Jacob and David My servant, so that I will not take any of his descendants to be rulers over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For I will cause their captives to return, and will have mercy on them.’”

Sing, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O Israel! Be glad and rejoice with all your heart, O daughter of Jerusalem!The Lord has taken away your judgments, He has cast out your enemy. The King of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst; You shall see disaster no more.In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem:“ Do not fear; Zion, let not your hands be weak.The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”“ I will gather those who sorrow over the appointed assembly, Who are among you, To whom its reproach is a burden.Behold, at that time I will deal with all who afflict you; I will save the lame, And gather those who were driven out; I will appoint them for praise and fame In every land where they were put to shame.At that time I will bring you back, Even at the time I gather you; For I will give you fame and praise Among all the peoples of the earth, When I return your captives before your eyes,” Says the Lord.

I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the Lord And the praises of the Lord, According to all that the Lord has bestowed on us, And the great goodness toward the house of Israel, Which He has bestowed on them according to His mercies, According to the multitude of His lovingkindnesses.For He said,“ Surely they are My people, Children who will not lie.” So He became their Savior.In all their affliction He was afflicted, And the Angel of His Presence saved them; In His love and in His pity He redeemed them; And He bore them and carried them All the days of old.But they rebelled and grieved His Holy Spirit; So He turned Himself against them as an enemy, And He fought against them.Then he remembered the days of old, Moses and his people, saying:“ Where is He who brought them up out of the sea With the shepherd of His flock? Where is He who put His Holy Spirit within them,Who led them by the right hand of Moses, With His glorious arm, Dividing the water before them To make for Himself an everlasting name,Who led them through the deep, As a horse in the wilderness, That they might not stumble?”As a beast goes down into the valley, And the Spirit of the Lord causes him to rest, So You lead Your people, To make Yourself a glorious name.Look down from heaven, And see from Your habitation, holy and glorious. Where are Your zeal and Your strength, The yearning of Your heart and Your mercies toward me? Are they restrained?Doubtless You are our Father, Though Abraham was ignorant of us, And Israel does not acknowledge us. You, O Lord, are our Father; Our Redeemer from Everlasting is Your name.

“ Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, Lowly and riding on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey.I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim And the horse from Jerusalem; The battle bow shall be cut off. He shall speak peace to the nations; His dominion shall be‘ from sea to sea, And from the River to the ends of the earth.’“ As for you also, Because of the blood of your covenant, I will set your prisoners free from the waterless pit.

For the Lord has called you Like a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, Like a youthful wife when you were refused,” Says your God.“ For a mere moment I have forsaken you, But with great mercies I will gather you.With a little wrath I hid My face from you for a moment; But with everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you,” Says the Lord, your Redeemer.“ For this is like the waters of Noah to Me; For as I have sworn That the waters of Noah would no longer cover the earth, So have I sworn That I would not be angry with you, nor rebuke you.For the mountains shall depart And the hills be removed, But My kindness shall not depart from you, Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed,” Says the Lord, who has mercy on you.
