「你曉諭以色列人說：無論男女許了特別的願，就是拿細耳人的願，要離俗歸耶和華。他就要遠離清酒濃酒，也不可喝甚麼清酒濃酒做的醋；不可喝甚麼葡萄汁，也不可吃鮮葡萄和乾葡萄。在一切離俗的日子，凡葡萄樹上結的，自核至皮所做的物，都不可吃。

但你是叫我出母腹的；我在母懷裏，你就使我有倚靠的心。

所以你當謹慎，清酒濃酒都不可喝，一切不潔之物也不可吃。你必懷孕生一個兒子，不可用剃頭刀剃他的頭，因為這孩子一出胎就歸神作拿細耳人。他必起首拯救以色列人脫離非利士人的手。」婦人就回去對丈夫說：「有一個神人到我面前來，他的相貌如神使者的相貌，甚是可畏。我沒有問他從哪裏來，他也沒有將他的名告訴我，

萬軍之耶和華必保護他們；他們必吞滅仇敵，踐踏彈石。他們必喝血吶喊，猶如飲酒；他們必像盛滿血的碗，又像壇的四角滿了血。

我必叫你成為大國。我必賜福給你，叫你的名為大；你也要叫別人得福。

豐富尊榮都從你而來，你也治理萬物。在你手裏有大能大力，使人尊大強盛都出於你。

約翰是點着的明燈，你們情願暫時喜歡他的光。

你們出去究竟是為甚麼？是要看先知嗎？我告訴你們，是的，他比先知大多了。經上記着說：『我要差遣我的使者在你前面預備道路』，所說的就是這個人。我實在告訴你們，凡婦人所生的，沒有一個興起來大過施洗約翰的；然而天國裏最小的比他還大。從施洗約翰的時候到如今，天國是努力進入的，努力的人就得着了。因為眾先知和律法說預言，到約翰為止。你們若肯領受，這人就是那應當來的以利亞。有耳可聽的，就應當聽！我可用甚麼比這世代呢？好像孩童坐在街市上招呼同伴，說：我們向你們吹笛，你們不跳舞；我們向你們舉哀，你們不捶胸。約翰來了，也不吃也不喝，人就說他是被鬼附着的；人子來了，也吃也喝，人又說他是貪食好酒的人，是稅吏和罪人的朋友。但智慧之子總以智慧為是。」

彼得和十一個使徒站起，高聲說：「猶太人和一切住在耶路撒冷的人哪，這件事你們當知道，也當側耳聽我的話。你們想這些人是醉了；其實不是醉了，因為時候剛到巳初。這正是先知約珥所說的：神說：在末後的日子，我要將我的靈澆灌凡有血氣的。你們的兒女要說預言；你們的少年人要見異象；老年人要做異夢。在那些日子，我要將我的靈澆灌我的僕人和使女，他們就要說預言。
