The elders of the community are to lay their hands on the bull’s head before the Lord, and the bull shall be slaughtered before the Lord.

耶和華諭摩西曰、屬以色列族之耆老、於其中簡七十人、必爾夙知其為民之長老族長、攜至會幕前、與爾偕立。

摩西牽犢以為贖罪之祭、亞倫及其子、按手其上、

又牽牡綿羊一、即任亞倫為祭司時所獻者、亞倫與子按手其上、

牽犢至會幕門、按手其上、宰於我前、

既攜利未人于我前、必使以色列族按手其上。

如有一邑甚近、邑之長老必取牝犢、未負軛工作者、攜犢至活水之谿、其地未嘗耕耘播種、則於谿中斫犢之頸、祭司利未人必適其所、蓋利未人為爾上帝耶和華所簡、以供服役、籲其名而祝告、凡諸爭競加害之事、為利未人定擬。甚近之邑、其長老、必於宰犢谿中盥濯其手、稱曰、此人非我所殺、其死非我所見、耶和華歟、爾贖以色列民、願赦其罪、勿以殺人之罪、歸之無辜、於是斯罪可赦。爾既行善於耶和華前、則殺人之罪不歸於爾。○

亞倫按手其上、代以色列族任咎負愆、使其罪惡、悉置羊首、簡人縱羊於曠野。

耶和華諭摩西曰、爾攜亞倫、拿答、亞庇戶、同以色列長老七十人、登山遙立拜我。
