爾造日象、築崇邱、我必毀之、棄爾尸骸、以及偶像、共相枕藉、我中心憾爾、

我必毀爾邱壇、滅爾日像、使爾之屍與爾偶像偃仆一處、我心必憎爾、

I will destroy your high places, cut down your incense altars and pile your dead bodies on the lifeless forms of your idols, and I will abhor you.

I will destroy the high places where you worship other gods. I will pull down your incense altars. I will pile up your dead bodies on the lifeless statues of your gods. And I will turn away from you.

And I will destroy your high places and cut down your incense altars and cast your dead bodies upon the dead bodies of your idols, and my soul will abhor you.

I will destroy your pagan shrines and knock down your places of worship. I will leave your lifeless corpses piled on top of your lifeless idols, and I will despise you.

and say, Ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord Jehovah: Thus saith the Lord Jehovah to the mountains and to the hills, to the watercourses and to the valleys: Behold, I, even I, will bring a sword upon you, and I will destroy your high places.And your altars shall become desolate, and your sun- images shall be broken; and I will cast down your slain men before your idols.And I will lay the dead bodies of the children of Israel before their idols; and I will scatter your bones round about your altars.In all your dwelling- places the cities shall be laid waste, and the high places shall be desolate; that your altars may be laid waste and made desolate, and your idols may be broken and cease, and your sun- images may be hewn down, and your works may be abolished.

Now when all this was finished, all Israel that were present went out to the cities of Judah, and brake in pieces the pillars, and hewed down the Asherim, and brake down the high places and the altars out of all Judah and Benjamin, in Ephraim also and Manasseh, until they had destroyed them all. Then all the children of Israel returned, every man to his possession, into their own cities.

But thou hast cast off and rejected, Thou hast been wroth with thine anointed.

And he cried against the altar by the word of Jehovah, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith Jehovah: Behold, a son shall be born unto the house of David, Josiah by name; and upon thee shall he sacrifice the priests of the high places that burn incense upon thee, and men’s bones shall they burn upon thee.

And as Josiah turned himself, he spied the sepulchres that were there in the mount; and he sent, and took the bones out of the sepulchres, and burned them upon the altar, and defiled it, according to the word of Jehovah which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these things.

Hast thou utterly rejected Judah? hath thy soul loathed Zion? why hast thou smitten us, and there is no healing for us? We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of healing, and, behold, dismay!

For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father; and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the Asherim, and the graven images, and the molten images.And they brake down the altars of the Baalim in his presence; and the sun- images that were on high above them he hewed down; and the Asherim, and the graven images, and the molten images, he brake in pieces, and made dust of them, and strewed it upon the graves of them that had sacrificed unto them.And he burnt the bones of the priests upon their altars, and purged Judah and Jerusalem.And so did he in the cities of Manasseh and Ephraim and Simeon, even unto Naphtali, in their ruins round about.And he brake down the altars, and beat the Asherim and the graven images into powder, and hewed down all the sun- images throughout all the land of Israel, and returned to Jerusalem.

for he took away the foreign altars, and the high places, and brake down the pillars, and hewed down the Asherim,and commanded Judah to seek Jehovah, the God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment.Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the sun- images: and the kingdom was quiet before him.

And all the people went to the house of Baal, and brake it down, and brake his altars and his images in pieces, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars.

For they provoked him to anger with their high places, And moved him to jealousy with their graven images.When God heard this, he was wroth, And greatly abhorred Israel;

And he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beer- sheba; and he brake down the high places of the gates that were at the entrance of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which were on a man’s left hand at the gate of the city.

At that time, saith Jehovah, they shall bring out the bones of the kings of Judah, and the bones of his princes, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, out of their graves;and they shall spread them before the sun, and the moon, and all the host of heaven, which they have loved, and which they have served, and after which they have walked, and which they have sought, and which they have worshipped: they shall not be gathered, nor be buried, they shall be for dung upon the face of the earth.And death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue that remain of this evil family, that remain in all the places whither I have driven them, saith Jehovah of hosts.

And ye shall not walk in the customs of the nation, which I cast out before you: for they did all these things, and therefore I abhorred them.

and if ye shall reject my statutes, and if your soul abhor mine ordinances, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but break my covenant;

And I will set my tabernacle among you: and my soul shall not abhor you.
