I will turn your cities into ruins and lay waste your sanctuaries, and I will take no delight in the pleasing aroma of your offerings.

I will completely destroy your cities. I will destroy your places of worship. The pleasant smell of your offerings will not give me any delight.

And I will lay your cities waste and will make your sanctuaries desolate, and I will not smell your pleasing aromas.

But if ye will not hear these words, I swear by myself, saith Jehovah, that this house shall become a desolation.

Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations:

Lift up thy feet unto the perpetual ruins, All the evil that the enemy hath done in the sanctuary.Thine adversaries have roared in the midst of thine assembly; They have set up their ensigns for signs.They seemed as men that lifted up Axes upon a thicket of trees.And now all the carved work thereof They break down with hatchet and hammers.They have set thy sanctuary on fire; They have profaned the dwelling- place of thy name by casting it to the ground.They said in their heart, Let us make havoc of them altogether: They have burned up all the synagogues of God in the land.

And I will make Jerusalem heaps, a dwelling- place of jackals; and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation, without inhabitant.

Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the pride of your power, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left behind shall fall by the sword.

Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest.

I have set the threatening sword against all their gates, that their heart may melt, and their stumblings be multiplied: ah! it is made as lightning, it is pointed for slaughter.

And Jehovah smelled the sweet savor; and Jehovah said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake, for that the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more everything living, as I have done.

And it shall be, when they say unto thee, Wherefore sighest thou? that thou shalt say, Because of the tidings, for it cometh; and every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall faint, and all knees shall be weak as water: behold, it cometh, and it shall be done, saith the Lord Jehovah.

In all your dwelling- places the cities shall be laid waste, and the high places shall be desolate; that your altars may be laid waste and made desolate, and your idols may be broken and cease, and your sun- images may be hewn down, and your works may be abolished.

The waste city is broken down; every house is shut up, that no man may come in.There is a crying in the streets because of the wine; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone.In the city is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction.

How doth the city sit solitary, that was full of people! She is become as a widow, that was great among the nations! She that was a princess among the provinces is become tributary!

And Jesus went out from the temple, and was going on his way; and his disciples came to him to show him the buildings of the temple.But he answered and said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
