“‘ Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the Lord your God.

“‘ Do not look for advice from people who get messages from those who have died. Do not go to people who talk to the spirits of the dead. If you do, they will make you“ unclean.” I am the Lord your God.

“ Do not turn to mediums or necromancers; do not seek them out, and so make yourselves unclean by them: I am the Lord your God.

“ Do not defile yourselves by turning to mediums or to those who consult the spirits of the dead. I am the Lord your God.

“ Do not turn to mediums or consult spiritists, or you will be defiled by them; I am the LORD your God.

‘ Give no regard to mediums and familiar spirits; do not seek after them, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God.

Turn ye not unto them that have familiar spirits, nor unto the wizards; seek them not out, to be defiled by them: I am Jehovah your God.

“ Do not turn to mediums or consult spiritists, or you will be defiled by them; I am Yahweh your God.

Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I[ am] the LORD your God.

Do not turn to the spirits of the dead and do not seek familiar spirits to become unclean by them. I am the LORD your God.

“‘ Don’t turn to those who are mediums, nor to the wizards. Don’t seek them out, to be defiled by them. I am Yahweh your God.

When they say to you,“ Consult the mediums and the spiritists who whisper and mutter,” should a people not consult their God? Should they consult the dead in behalf of the living?

‘ Now a man or a woman who is a medium or a spiritist must be put to death. They shall be stoned with stones; they have brought their own deaths upon themselves.’ ”

So Saul died for his unfaithfulness which he committed against the Lord, because of the word of the Lord which he did not keep; and also because he asked counsel of a medium, making inquiry of her,

‘ As for the person who turns to mediums and to spiritists, to play the prostitute with them, I will also set My face against that person and will cut him off from among his people.You shall consecrate yourselves therefore and be holy, for I am the Lord your God.

Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had mourned him and buried him in Ramah, his own city. And Saul had removed the mediums and spiritists from the land.

He also made his sons pass through the fire in the Valley of Ben hinnom; and he practiced witchcraft, used divination, practiced sorcery, and dealt with mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking Him to anger.

You are wearied with your many counsels; Let now the astrologers, Those who prophesy by the stars, Those who predict by the new moons, Stand up and save you from what will come upon you.

“ You shall not allow a sorceress to live.

When they had gone through the whole island as far as Paphos, they found a magician, a Jewish false prophet whose name was Bar Jesus,who was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, a man of intelligence. This man summoned Barnabas and Saul and sought to hear the word of God.But Elymas the magician( for so his name is translated) was opposing them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith.

But for the cowardly, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and sexually immoral persons, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

Then Saul said to his servants,“ Find for me a woman who is a medium, so that I may go to her and inquire of her.” And his servants said to him,“ Behold, there is a woman who is a medium at En dor.”Then Saul disguised himself by putting on different clothes, and went, he and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night; and he said,“ Consult the spirit for me, please, and bring up for me the one whom I shall name for you.”But the woman said to him,“ Behold, you know what Saul has done, that he has eliminated the mediums and spiritists from the land. Why are you then setting a trap for my life, to bring about my death?”

And they were paying attention to him because for a long time he had astounded them with his magic arts.

And many of those who practiced magic brought their books together and began burning them in the sight of everyone; and they added up the prices of the books and found it to be fifty thousand pieces of silver.So the word of the Lord was growing and prevailing mightily.

It happened that as we were going to the place of prayer, a slave woman who had a spirit of divination met us, who was bringing great profit to her masters by fortune telling.She followed Paul and us and cried out repeatedly, saying,“ These men are bond servants of the Most High God, who are proclaiming to you a way of salvation.”Now she continued doing this for many days. But Paul was greatly annoyed, and he turned and said to the spirit,“ I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her!” And it came out at that very moment.

Then they made their sons and their daughters pass through the fire, and they practiced divination and interpreting omens, and gave themselves over to do evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking Him.

Then you will be brought low; From the earth you will speak, And from the dust where you are prostrate Your words will come. Your voice will also be like that of a spirit from the ground, And your speech will whisper from the dust.
