“‘ Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.

“‘ Do not try to get even. Do not hold anything against any of your people. Instead, love your neighbor as you love yourself. I am the Lord.

For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, in this:“ You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

However, if you fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture,“ You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you do well.

A second likewise is this,‘ You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.”

The second is like this,‘ You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”The scribe said to him,“ Truly, teacher, you have said well that he is one, and there is none other but he,and to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbor as himself, is more important than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.”When Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him,“ You are not far from God’s Kingdom.” No one dared ask him any question after that.

He answered,“ You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”He said to him,“ You have answered correctly. Do this, and you will live.”But he, desiring to justify himself, asked Jesus,“ Who is my neighbor?”Jesus answered,“ A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who both stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead.By chance a certain priest was going down that way. When he saw him, he passed by on the other side.In the same way a Levite also, when he came to the place, and saw him, passed by on the other side.But a certain Samaritan, as he traveled, came where he was. When he saw him, he was moved with compassion,came to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. He set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the host, and said to him,‘ Take care of him. Whatever you spend beyond that, I will repay you when I return.’Now which of these three do you think seemed to be a neighbor to him who fell among the robbers?”He said,“ He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him,“ Go and do likewise.”

‘ Honor your father and your mother.’ And,‘ You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’”

Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written,“ Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.”

“ You have heard that it was said,‘ You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you,

“ If you meet your enemy’s ox or his donkey going astray, you shall surely bring it back to him again.If you see the donkey of him who hates you fallen down under his burden, don’t leave him. You shall surely help him with it.

Behold, one came to him and said,“ Good teacher, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?”

for he is a servant of God to you for good. But if you do that which is evil, be afraid, for he doesn’t bear the sword in vain; for he is a servant of God, an avenger for wrath to him who does evil.

Absalom commanded his servants, saying,“ Mark now, when Amnon’s heart is merry with wine; and when I tell you,‘ Strike Amnon,’ then kill him. Don’t be afraid. Haven’t I commanded you? Be courageous, and be valiant!”

Repay no one evil for evil. Respect what is honorable in the sight of all men.

Don’t say,“ I will pay back evil.” Wait for Yahweh, and he will save you.

Outside the sword will bereave, and in the rooms, terror on both young man and virgin, the nursing infant with the gray- haired man.

Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice.

but now you also put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and shameful speaking out of your mouth.

For we know him who said,“ Vengeance belongs to me;” says the Lord,“ I will repay.” Again,“ The Lord will judge his people.”

idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousies, outbursts of anger, rivalries, divisions, heresies,

Putting away therefore all wickedness, all deceit, hypocrisies, envies, and all evil speaking,

Absalom spoke to Amnon neither good nor bad; for Absalom hated Amnon, because he had forced his sister Tamar.

He will not always accuse; neither will he stay angry forever.
