“‘ Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.

“‘ Do not try to get even. Do not hold anything against any of your people. Instead, love your neighbor as you love yourself. I am the Lord.

You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.

The second is, Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other command greater than these.”Then the scribe said to him,“ You are right, teacher. You have correctly said that he is one, and there is no one else except him.And to love him with all your heart, with all your understanding, and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself, is far more important than all the burnt offerings and sacrifices.”When Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him,“ You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And no one dared to question him any longer.

He answered,“ Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,” and“ your neighbor as yourself.”“ You’ve answered correctly,” he told him.“ Do this and you will live.”But wanting to justify himself, he asked Jesus,“ And who is my neighbor?”Jesus took up the question and said,“ A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him, beat him up, and fled, leaving him half dead.A priest happened to be going down that road. When he saw him, he passed by on the other side.In the same way, a Levite, when he arrived at the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.But a Samaritan on his journey came up to him, and when he saw the man, he had compassion.He went over to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on olive oil and wine. Then he put him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.The next day he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said,‘ Take care of him. When I come back I’ll reimburse you for whatever extra you spend.’“ Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers?”“ The one who showed mercy to him,” he said. Then Jesus told him,“ Go and do the same.”

honor your father and your mother; and love your neighbor as yourself.

Friends, do not avenge yourselves; instead, leave room for God’s wrath, because it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.

“ You have heard that it was said, Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

“ If you come across your enemy’s stray ox or donkey, you must return it to him.“ If you see the donkey of someone who hates you lying helpless under its load, and you want to refrain from helping it, you must help with it.

Just then someone came up and asked him,“ Teacher, what good must I do to have eternal life?”

For it is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, because it does not carry the sword for no reason. For it is God’s servant, an avenger that brings wrath on the one who does wrong.

Now Absalom commanded his young men,“ Watch Amnon until he is in a good mood from the wine. When I order you to strike Amnon, then kill him. Don’t be afraid. Am I not the one who has commanded you? Be strong and valiant!”

Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Give careful thought to do what is honorable in everyone’s eyes.

Don’t say,“ I will avenge this evil!” Wait on the LORD, and he will rescue you.

Outside, the sword will take their children, and inside, there will be terror; the young man and the young woman will be killed, the infant and the gray-haired man.

Let all bitterness, anger and wrath, shouting and slander be removed from you, along with all malice.

But now, put away all the following: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and filthy language from your mouth.

For we know the one who has said, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, and again, The Lord will judge his people.

idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambitions, dissensions, factions,

Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all slander.

Absalom didn’t say anything to Amnon, either good or bad, because he hated Amnon since he disgraced his sister Tamar.

He will not always accuse us or be angry forever.
