毋於爾民中往來讒毀人、毋圖謀害人、或作毋妄證置人於死地我乃主、

“‘ Do not go about spreading slander among your people.“‘ Do not do anything that endangers your neighbor’s life. I am the Lord.

“‘ Do not go around spreading lies among your people.“‘ Do not do anything that puts your neighbor’s life in danger. I am the Lord.

You shall not go around as a slanderer among your people, and you shall not stand up against the life of your neighbor: I am the Lord.

“ Do not spread slanderous gossip among your people.“ Do not stand idly by when your neighbor’s life is threatened. I am the Lord.

Do not go about spreading slander among your people; do not jeopardize your neighbor’s life; I am the LORD.

You shall not go about as a slanderer among your people; and you are not to jeopardize the life of your neighbor. I am the Lord.

Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people: neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbor: I am Jehovah.

“ You shall not circulate a false report. Do not put your hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.

Keep yourself far from a false matter; do not kill the innocent and righteous. For I will not justify the wicked.

In you are men who slander to cause bloodshed; in you are those who eat on the mountains; in your midst they commit lewdness.

He who goes about as a talebearer reveals secrets; Therefore do not associate with one who flatters with his lips.

and seat two men, scoundrels, before him to bear witness against him, saying,“ You have blasphemed God and the king.” Then take him out, and stone him, that he may die.So the men of his city, the elders and nobles who were inhabitants of his city, did as Jezebel had sent to them, as it was written in the letters which she had sent to them.They proclaimed a fast, and seated Naboth with high honor among the people.And two men, scoundrels, came in and sat before him; and the scoundrels witnessed against him, against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying,“ Naboth has blasphemed God and the king!” Then they took him outside the city and stoned him with stones, so that he died.

He who does not backbite with his tongue, Nor does evil to his neighbor, Nor does he take up a reproach against his friend;

A talebearer reveals secrets, But he who is of a faithful spirit conceals a matter.

They are all stubborn rebels, walking as slanderers. They are bronze and iron, They are all corrupters;

“ Everyone take heed to his neighbor, And do not trust any brother; For every brother will utterly supplant, And every neighbor will walk with slanderers.

Then they secretly induced men to say,“ We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God.”And they stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes; and they came upon him, seized him, and brought him to the council.They also set up false witnesses who said,“ This man does not cease to speak blasphemous words against this holy place and the law;

“ You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking,

but found none. Even though many false witnesses came forward, they found none. But at last two false witnesses came forwardand said,“ This fellow said,‘ I am able to destroy the temple of God and to build it in three days.’”

Nevertheless, not to be tedious to you any further, I beg you to hear, by your courtesy, a few words from us.For we have found this man a plague, a creator of dissension among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes.He even tried to profane the temple, and we seized him, and wanted to judge him according to our law.

unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,

Likewise, their wives must be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things.

saying,“ I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.” And they said,“ What is that to us? You see to it!”
