“‘ Do not go about spreading slander among your people.“‘ Do not do anything that endangers your neighbor’s life. I am the Lord.

“‘ Do not go around spreading lies among your people.“‘ Do not do anything that puts your neighbor’s life in danger. I am the Lord.

You shall not go around as a slanderer among your people, and you shall not stand up against the life of your neighbor: I am the Lord.

“ Do not spread slanderous gossip among your people.“ Do not stand idly by when your neighbor’s life is threatened. I am the Lord.

Do not go about spreading slander among your people; do not jeopardize your neighbor’s life; I am the LORD.

You shall not go about as a talebearer among your people; nor shall you take a stand against the life of your neighbor: I am the Lord.

Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people: neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbor: I am Jehovah.

在你這城中，有人好誹謗、殺人流血，有人在山上吃祭物，有人淫亂，

嚼舌的人洩露秘密，不可結交多嘴的人。

叫兩個無賴坐在他對面控告他咒詛上帝和君王，然後把他拉出去用石頭打死。」與拿伯同居一城的長老和貴族接到來信，便依照信裡的指示行事。他們宣告禁食，讓拿伯在百姓中坐首位，又叫兩名無賴當眾作證指控拿伯咒詛上帝和君王。然後眾人把拿伯拖出城外，用石頭打死了他。

他不說譭謗的話，不惡待鄰人，不造謠生事。

嚼舌者洩露秘密，忠信者守口如瓶。

他們頑固不化，如銅如鐵，四處譭謗，極其敗壞。

你們要提防鄰居，不要信賴弟兄，因為弟兄詭計多端，鄰居滿口是非。

於是，他們暗中唆使一些人誣告司提凡說：「我們聽見他說褻瀆摩西和上帝的話！」又煽動百姓、長老和律法教師抓住司提凡，把他押到公會。他們還派人作偽證說：「司提凡常常講侮辱聖地和律法的話。

「不可作偽證陷害人。

因此，你們既然已經除去一切惡毒、欺詐、虛偽、嫉妒和毀謗，

雖然有很多假證人誣告祂，但都找不到真憑實據。最後有兩個人上前高聲說：「這個人曾經說過，『我能拆毀聖殿，三天內把它重建起來。』」

我不敢耽誤大人太久，只求大人容我們簡單敘述。我們發現這個人惹事生非，到處煽動猶太人鬧事。他是拿撒勒教派的一個頭目，企圖玷污聖殿，被我們抓住了。我們想按照猶太律法處置他，不料呂西亞千夫長卻硬把他從我們手中搶走，並命令告他的人到大人這裡來。大人親自審問他，就會知道我們告他的事了。」在場的猶太人也隨聲附和，表示這些事屬實。

冷漠無情、不願和解、好說讒言、毫無節制、蠻橫兇暴、不愛良善、

執事的妻子也要品行端正，不搬弄是非，為人節制，做事忠心。

「我出賣了清白無辜的人，我犯罪了！」他們說：「那是你自己的事，跟我們有什麼關係？」

勸年長的婦女要過敬虔的生活，不說長道短，不做酒的奴隸，要以身作則。
