不可咒罵聾子，也不可把絆腳石放在瞎子面前；卻要敬畏你的神；我是耶和華。

“‘ Do not curse the deaf or put a stumbling block in front of the blind, but fear your God. I am the Lord.

“‘ Do not ask for bad things to happen to deaf people. Do not put anything in front of blind people that will make them trip. Instead, have respect for me. I am the Lord your God.

其實食物不能使我們親近神，我們不吃也無損，吃也無益。然而你們要謹慎，免得你們這自由成了軟弱的人的絆腳石。因為如果有人看見你這有知識的人，在偶像的廟裡吃喝，他的良心若是軟弱，他不就放膽去吃那祭過偶像的食物嗎？因此，基督已經為他死了的那軟弱的弟兄，就因你的知識而滅亡了。你們這樣得罪弟兄，傷了他們軟弱的良心，就是得罪基督了。所以，如果食物使我的弟兄跌倒，我就永遠不再吃肉，免得使我的弟兄跌倒了。

要尊重眾人，愛護弟兄，敬畏神，尊敬君王。

所以，我們不要再彼此批評了；倒要立定主意，決不作絆倒弟兄或使他跌倒的事。

無論是猶太人，是希臘人，是神的教會，你們總不可使他們跌倒；

迫害你們的，要為他們祝福；只可祝福，不可咒詛。

在我們以先的前任省長，重壓人民，每日都向他們索取糧食和酒，以及四百五十六克銀子。連他們的僕人也轄制人民，但我因為敬畏神，就不這樣行。

到了第三天，約瑟對他們說：“我是敬畏神的，你們要這樣作，就可以活著；

然而有幾件事我要責備你，因為在你那裡有些人持守巴蘭的教訓。這巴蘭曾經教導巴勒把絆腳石放在以色列人面前，叫他們吃祭過偶像的食物，並且行淫亂。

你們既稱那不偏待人、按各人行為審判的主為父，就當存敬畏的心，過你們寄居的日子；
