‘ Do not defile yourselves with any of these things; for by all these the nations are defiled, which I am casting out before you.

勿緣斯事自辱厥躬、我於爾前所逐之民、行此自玷、

異邦人行此、自取污衊、故我逐之、爾勿則效、

爾毋行此沾污己身、我於爾前所將逐之諸族皆行之、自取沾污、

“‘ Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, because this is how the nations that I am going to drive out before you became defiled.

“‘ Do not make yourselves“ unclean” in any of these ways. That is how other nations became“ unclean.” So I am going to drive those nations out of the land to make room for you.

“ Do not make yourselves unclean by any of these things, for by all these the nations I am driving out before you have become unclean,

“ Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, for the people I am driving out before you have defiled themselves in all these ways.

“ Do not defile yourselves by any of these practices, for the nations I am driving out before you have defiled themselves by all these things.

‘ Do not defile yourselves by any of these things; for by all these things the nations which I am driving out from you have become defiled.

Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out from before you;

“ Do not defile yourselves by any of these practices, for the nations I am driving out before you have defiled themselves by all these things.

“‘ Do not defile yourselves with any of these things, for the nations which I am about to drive out before you have been defiled with all these things.

“‘ Don’t defile yourselves in any of these things; for in all these the nations which I am casting out before you were defiled.

For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord, and because of these abominations the Lord your God drives them out from before you.

‘ Therefore you shall keep My ordinance, so that you do not commit any of these abominable customs which were committed before you, and that you do not defile yourselves by them: I am the Lord your God.’”

You shall not worship the Lord your God in that way; for every abomination to the Lord which He hates they have done to their gods; for they burn even their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods.

But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man.For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man.”

However I have sent to you all My servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, saying,“ Oh, do not do this abominable thing that I hate!”

According to the doings of the land of Egypt, where you dwelt, you shall not do; and according to the doings of the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you, you shall not do; nor shall you walk in their ordinances.

‘ You shall therefore keep all My statutes and all My judgments, and perform them, that the land where I am bringing you to dwell may not vomit you out.And you shall not walk in the statutes of the nation which I am casting out before you; for they commit all these things, and therefore I abhor them.

If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.

‘ None of you shall approach anyone who is near of kin to him, to uncover his nakedness: I am the Lord.The nakedness of your father or the nakedness of your mother you shall not uncover. She is your mother; you shall not uncover her nakedness.The nakedness of your father’s wife you shall not uncover; it is your father’s nakedness.The nakedness of your sister, the daughter of your father, or the daughter of your mother, whether born at home or elsewhere, their nakedness you shall not uncover.The nakedness of your son’s daughter or your daughter’s daughter, their nakedness you shall not uncover; for theirs is your own nakedness.The nakedness of your father’s wife’s daughter, begotten by your father— she is your sister— you shall not uncover her nakedness.You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father’s sister; she is near of kin to your father.You shall not uncover the nakedness of your mother’s sister, for she is near of kin to your mother.You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father’s brother. You shall not approach his wife; she is your aunt.You shall not uncover the nakedness of your daughter-in-law— she is your son’s wife— you shall not uncover her nakedness.You shall not uncover the nakedness of your brother’s wife; it is your brother’s nakedness.You shall not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter, nor shall you take her son’s daughter or her daughter’s daughter, to uncover her nakedness. They are near of kin to her. It is wickedness.Nor shall you take a woman as a rival to her sister, to uncover her nakedness while the other is alive.‘ Also you shall not approach a woman to uncover her nakedness as long as she is in her customary impurity.Moreover you shall not lie carnally with your neighbor’s wife, to defile yourself with her.And you shall not let any of your descendants pass through the fire to Molech, nor shall you profane the name of your God: I am the Lord.You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination.Nor shall you mate with any animal, to defile yourself with it. Nor shall any woman stand before an animal to mate with it. It is perversion.

For Moses said,‘ Honor your father and your mother’; and,‘ He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.’But you say,‘ If a man says to his father or mother,“ Whatever profit you might have received from me is Corban”—’( that is, a gift to God),then you no longer let him do anything for his father or his mother,making the word of God of no effect through your tradition which you have handed down. And many such things you do.”When He had called all the multitude to Himself, He said to them,“ Hear Me, everyone, and understand:There is nothing that enters a man from outside which can defile him; but the things which come out of him, those are the things that defile a man.
