因為生命在血中，耶和華把血賜給你們，使你們可以用血在祭壇上為自己贖罪。血可以為人的生命贖罪。

For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one’s life.

The life of each creature is in its blood. So I have given you the blood of animals to pay for your sin on the altar. Blood is life. That is why blood pays for your sin.

耶穌說：「這是我為萬人所流的立約之血。

只是你們不可吃帶血的肉，因為血就是生命。

同樣，耶穌也在城門外受難，為要用自己的血使祂的子民聖潔。

又藉著祂在十字架上所流的血成就了和平，使天地萬物藉著祂與上帝和好。

我們藉著祂愛子的血蒙救贖，過犯得到赦免，這都是出於祂的洪恩。

你們蒙揀選是按照父上帝預先定好的旨意，藉著聖靈得以聖潔，好順服耶穌基督，並靠祂的血得到潔淨。願上帝賜給你們豐豐富富的恩典和平安！

現在，我們既然因祂所流的血而被稱為義人，豈不更要靠著祂免受上帝的烈怒嗎？

「亞倫要把那隻為他作贖罪祭的公牛犢牽來宰殺，為自己和全家贖罪，

這是我為萬人所流的立約之血，為了使罪得到赦免。

摩西宰了牛，用手指蘸一些牛血抹在祭壇的四角上，以潔淨祭壇；把剩下的血倒在祭壇腳旁，使祭壇聖潔。

正如人子不是來受人服侍，而是來服侍人，並且犧牲性命，作許多人的贖價。」

因為眾生的生命都在血中。因此，耶和華吩咐以色列人不可吃任何動物的血，因為血就是生命。凡吃血的都要被剷除。

他要取一些牛血，用手指彈灑在施恩座的東面，也要在施恩座前用手指彈灑七次。然後，亞倫要出去宰殺那隻為民眾作贖罪祭的公山羊，把羊血帶進幔子裡，像灑牛血一樣灑在施恩座的上面和前面。因以色列人的污穢、叛逆和罪惡，他要這樣為至聖所贖罪。他也要同樣為會幕贖罪，因為會幕座落在以色列人中間，處在他們的污穢中。從他進入聖所為自己全家和以色列全體會眾贖罪開始，直到他贖完罪出來為止，任何人都不可待在會幕裡。之後，他要來到耶和華面前的祭壇那裡，為祭壇贖罪。他要取一些牛血和羊血，抹在祭壇的四角上，用手指向祭壇灑血七次，除掉以色列人的污穢，使祭壇聖潔。
