He is to lay both hands on the head of the live goat and confess over it all the wickedness and rebellion of the Israelites— all their sins— and put them on the goat’s head. He shall send the goat away into the wilderness in the care of someone appointed for the task.

He must place both of his hands on its head. While he does that, he must tell me about all the sins the Israelites have committed. He must tell me about all their evil acts and the times they did not obey me. In that way he puts their sins on the goat’s head. Then he will send the goat away into the desert. The goat will be led away by a man appointed to do it.

And Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, and confess over it all the iniquities of the people of Israel, and all their transgressions, all their sins. And he shall put them on the head of the goat and send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a man who is in readiness.

He will lay both of his hands on the goat’s head and confess over it all the wickedness, rebellion, and sins of the people of Israel. In this way, he will transfer the people’s sins to the head of the goat. Then a man specially chosen for the task will drive the goat into the wilderness.

遮掩自己过犯的，必不亨通；承认并离弃过犯的，必蒙怜悯。

求你侧着耳，睁着眼的，垂听你仆人的祷告，我今天在你面前昼夜为着你的仆人以色列人祷告，承认以色列人所犯的罪，就是我与我父的家向你所犯的罪。我们故意行极大的恶事得罪你，没有遵守你吩咐你仆人摩西的诫命、律例和典章。

以斯拉祷告、认罪、哭泣，俯伏在神的殿前的时候，有一大群以色列人，包括男女小孩，在他面前聚集；众人也都痛哭。

因为心里相信就必称义，用口承认就必得救。

于是我转向主神，禁食，披麻蒙灰，藉祈祷和恳求寻求他。我向耶和华我的神祷告、认罪，说：“主啊！伟大可畏的神，你向那些爱你（“你”原文作“他”），遵守你（“你”原文作“他”）诫命的人守约施慈爱。我们犯了罪，行了不义，作了恶，背叛了你，偏离了你的诫命典章；没有听从你的仆人众先知，他们奉你的名向我们的君王、领袖、列祖和国中所有的人民说话。主啊！你是公义的；我们满面羞愧，正如今日的光景；我们犹大人、耶路撒冷的居民，和被你赶逐到远近各地的以色列众人，都因对你不忠而满面羞愧。耶和华啊！我们和我们的君王、领袖、列祖，都满面羞愧，因为我们得罪了你。虽然我们背叛了主我们的神，他仍是满有怜悯和饶恕。我们没有听从耶和华我们神的话，没有遵行他藉着他的仆人众先知向我们颁布的律法。以色列众人都违背了你的律法，偏离了你，不听从你的话，因此，神的仆人摩西的律法书上所记载的咒诅和誓言，都倾倒在我们身上；我们实在得罪了神。他实现了他的预言，按着他向我们和那些治理我们的官长所说过的话，使大灾祸临到我们身上；耶路撒冷所遇的灾祸是在普天之下从未发生过的。这一切灾祸是按着摩西的律法书上所记载的，临到了我们身上，但我们仍没有恳求耶和华我们的神施恩，使我们离开罪孽，明白你的真理。所以耶和华留意使这灾祸临到我们身上，因为耶和华我们的神在他所行的一切事上都是公义的，我们却没有听从他的话。主我们的神啊！你曾用强而有力的手把你的子民从埃及地领出来，使你自己得了名，好像今天一样。现在，我们犯了罪，作了恶。主啊！求你按着你的一切公义，使你的怒气和忿怒转离你的城耶路撒冷，就是你的圣山；因我们的罪和我们列祖的罪孽的缘故，耶路撒冷和你的子民成了在我们四围的人羞辱的对象。现在，我们的神啊！求你垂听你仆人的祷告和恳求；主啊！为了你自己的缘故，使你的脸光照你这荒凉了的圣所。我的神啊！求你侧耳而听，睁眼垂顾我们的荒凉，和那称为你名下的城；因为我们向你恳求，并不是因着自己的义，而是因着你的大怜悯。主啊！求你垂听。主啊！求你赦免。主啊！求你应允而行。我的神啊！为了你自己的缘故，求你不要耽延。因为你的城和你的子民都是称为你名下的。”我还在说话、祷告、承认我的罪和我同胞以色列人的罪，为我神的圣山，向耶和华我的神恳求的时候；

如果他在任何一件事上犯了罪，就要承认自己所犯的罪；

“那时他们就会承认自己的罪孽和他们祖先的罪孽，就是他们对我不忠的过犯，又承认因为行事与我的心意相违，

他要按手在燔祭牲的头上，燔祭就蒙悦纳，可以为他赎罪。

那天四分之一的时间，他们站在自己的地方，宣读耶和华他们的神的律法书；另外四分之一的时间，他们认罪和敬拜耶和华他们的神。耶书亚、巴尼、甲篾、示巴尼、布尼、示利比、巴尼和基拿尼，站立在利未人的台阶上，向耶和华他们的神大声哀求。利未人耶书亚、甲篾、巴尼、哈沙尼、示利比、荷第雅、示巴尼和毗他希雅说：“你们要起立，称颂耶和华你们的神，直到永永远远。”“耶和华啊，你荣耀的名是应当称颂的；愿你的名被尊崇，超过一切称颂和赞美。
