在富貴人的家裡（“富貴人的家裡”原文作“大房子”），不但有金器、銀器，也有木器、瓦器；有貴重的，也有卑賤的。

我們有這寶貝在瓦器裡，是要顯明這極大的能力是屬於神，不是出於我們。

我把猶大作我手上拉開的弓，把以法蓮作我弓上的箭。錫安哪！我必激動你的眾子，去攻擊希臘的眾子；我必使你像勇士的刀劍。

眾領袖被敵人吊起來；長老也不受人尊敬。

陶匠難道沒有權用同一團的泥，又做貴重的、又做卑賤的器皿嗎？如果神有意要顯明他的忿怒，彰顯他的大能，而多多容忍那可怒、預備遭毀滅的器皿，為了要使他豐盛的榮耀，彰顯在那蒙恩、早已預備要得榮耀的器皿上，這又有甚麼不可呢？

她所生的眾子中，沒有一個引導她的；她養大的眾子中，沒有一個扶持她的。

哥尼雅這個人是被鄙視、被摔碎的瓶子，是沒有人喜悅的器皿嗎？他和他的後裔為甚麼被驅趕，被拋棄到他們不認識的地去呢？
