護衛長尼布撒拉旦擄走祭司長西萊雅、副祭司長西番亞和三名殿門守衛，還從城中拿住一名統管士兵的將領、王的五個親信、一名負責招兵的書記和六十名平民。護衛長尼布撒拉旦把他們帶到利比拉去見巴比倫王，巴比倫王在那裡處死了他們。猶大人就這樣被擄去，離開了家園。

「祂要使你們被敵人擊敗、潰不成軍、四散逃命，下場令天下萬國驚懼。

耶和華使迦勒底人的王起兵攻打他們，在他們的聖殿裡用刀擊殺他們的壯丁，毫不憐憫少男少女、老人和年高者。耶和華把他們全部交在他的手中。

他們狂暴兇殘，該受咒詛！我要使他們分散在雅各的子孫中，散居在以色列各地。

這約不同於我與他們祖先所立的約，就是我牽著他們祖先的手領他們離開埃及時所立的。因為他們不持守我的約，所以我不再理會他們。這是主說的。

我本要消滅他們，使世人忘記他們；

「耶和華要把你們分散到天下萬邦，你們要在那裡供奉祖祖輩輩素不認識的木石神像。你們在萬邦中將不得安寧，沒有落腳之地，耶和華必使你們膽戰心驚、目光呆滯、精神頹廢。

使他們的遭遇令天下萬國驚懼。在我流放他們去的地方，他們必受凌辱、嘲笑、譏諷和咒詛。

因為猶大王希西迦的兒子瑪拿西在耶路撒冷的所作所為，我要使他們的遭遇令天下萬國驚懼。

但祂聽見他們在苦難中呼求時，仍然眷顧他們。

我要把你們驅散到各國，還要拔刀追殺你們。你們的土地將荒廢，城邑將淪為廢墟。你們被擄到敵國的時候，你們的土地將荒廢，享受安息。你們住在那裡的時候，沒有在安息年讓土地安息，因此土地在荒廢的日子裡將享受安息。「我要使你們當中的那些倖存者在敵國心驚膽戰，過著風聲鶴唳、惶恐不安的生活。即使無人追趕，他們也將倉皇逃命，互相絆倒，如同躲避刀劍一樣。你們必無力抵擋敵人。你們將葬身列國，死在敵人的土地上。你們當中的倖存者將因自己的罪和祖先的罪而消亡在敵人的土地上。
