Why should the living complain when punished for their sins?

A person who is still alive shouldn’t blame God when God punishes them for their sins.

Why should a living man complain, a man, about the punishment of his sins?

Then why should we, mere humans, complain when we are punished for our sins?

Why should any living person complain, any man, because of the punishment for his sins?

I must endure the LORD’s anger, for I have sinned against him. But then he will defend my cause, and accomplish justice on my behalf. He will lead me out into the light; I will experience firsthand his deliverance.

A person’s folly subverts his way, and his heart rages against the LORD.

The LORD was so furious with Uzzah, he killed him on the spot for his negligence. He died right there beside the ark of God.David was angry because the LORD attacked Uzzah; so he called that place Perez Uzzah, which remains its name to this very day.

Why do you complain about your injuries, that your pain is incurable? I have done all this to you because your wickedness is so great and your sin is so much.

Now Elisha was sitting in his house with the community leaders. The king sent a messenger on ahead, but before he arrived, Elisha said to the leaders,“ Do you realize this assassin intends to cut off my head?” Look, when the messenger arrives, shut the door and lean against it. His master will certainly be right behind him.”

The land will be abandoned by them in order that it may make up for its Sabbaths while it is made desolate without them, and they will make up for their iniquity because they have rejected my regulations and have abhorred my statutes.

Thus people were scorched by the terrible heat, yet they blasphemed the name of God, who has ruling authority over these plagues, and they would not repent and give him glory.

What will you do to protect your great reputation?”The LORD responded to Joshua,“ Get up! Why are you lying there face down?Israel has sinned; they have violated my covenantal commandment! They have taken some of the riches; they have stolen them and deceitfully put them among their own possessions.The Israelites are unable to stand before their enemies; they retreat because they have become subject to annihilation. I will no longer be with you, unless you destroy what has contaminated you.Get up! Ritually consecrate the people and tell them this:‘ Ritually consecrate yourselves for tomorrow, because the LORD God of Israel says,“ You are contaminated, O Israel! You will not be able to stand before your enemies until you remove what is contaminating you.”

“ Look, the grief I experienced was for my benefit. You delivered me from the pit of oblivion. For you removed all my sins from your sight.Indeed Sheol does not give you thanks; death does not praise you. Those who descend into the pit do not anticipate your faithfulness.The living person, the living person, he gives you thanks, as I do today. A father tells his sons about your faithfulness.

And Moses said to the LORD,“ Why have you afflicted your servant? Why have I not found favor in your sight, that you lay the burden of this entire people on me?
