『我為了這些事而哭泣；我眼我目直流淚水；因為那當安慰我、使我恢復精神的、離我很遠；我的兒女淒涼涼，因為仇敵得勝了。

他的弓箭手四面圍繞我；他破裂了我的腰腎，全不顧惜；把我的肝膽傾倒於地上。

『永恆主啊，看我有多大患難哦！我的心腸沸騰着；我心裏翻轉着；因為我大大悖逆：外頭有刀劍使人喪子，家裏則如死亡。

所以我說：『你們請轉眼、別注視着我！讓我苦苦地哭一頓吧！不要因我眾民之毁滅，你們就急地來安慰我。』

我如同水被倒出；我的骨頭都脫了節；我的心變像了蠟，竟熔化於臟腑中；

我的肺腑啊，我的肺腑啊，我翻騰難過；我心房的牆直跳動着；我的心向我自己在悲歎哀鳴；我不能緘默不作聲；因為我聽見了號角聲，戰爭的吶喊。

我眼睛由愁苦而損壞；又因我一切敵人而衰老昏花。

我的眼直流淚河，都因我眾民遭受的破毁。『我的眼直流淚，不停止，沒有休息，直等永恆主從天上垂顧而下看。我的眼使我傷痛，都因我本城眾民的緣故。

被刀刺死的比被饑荒餓死的還好，因為前者雖被刺傷，還可以喫田間的出產。慈心的婦人，親手煮自己生的孩子；當我眾民遭破毁時，親生孩子做了自己的食品。

夜間每到交更時分，你要起來喊求，在主面前傾心如水！你的孩童在各街頭受餓發昏，你要為他們的性命向主舉手禱告。永恆主啊，看吧！鑒察吧！看你向誰這樣加罰過！婦人哪能喫自己所生育的，喫自己撫弄的嬰孩呢？祭司和神言人哪可在主的聖所中被殺戮呢？

如今呢、永恆主萬軍之上帝、以色列之上帝這麼說：你們為甚麼行這大壞事、自害己命、而從猶大中將你們的男人、婦女、嬰孩、和喫奶的、都剪除掉、不留下一個餘剩之民呢？

大衛和跟隨的人就放聲大哭，直哭到沒力氣哭。

我像燕子呢喃一樣地啁啾叫；我沉吟哀鳴像鴿子。我的眼懶着向上了；永恆主啊，我受欺壓；為我作保哦！

野狗尚且把奶頭給崽子喫奶，我的眾民倒殘忍，像曠野的鴕鳥一樣啊！喫奶孩子的舌頭因乾渴而貼住上膛；孩童求餅，無人擘給他們。

聽啊，我子民的呼救聲，從遼闊之地而來，說：『永恆主不在錫安麼？錫安的王不在其中麼？』永恆主說：『他們為甚麼以他們的雕像、外人虛無的神、來惹我發怒呢？』『收割時候已過，夏天日子已盡，我們呢、還未得救助！』神言人說：『為了我子民的破爛、我的心都破碎了；我悲傷哀悼，驚駭將我抓住。在基列難道沒有止痛乳香？那裏難道沒有醫生麼？我子民的新肉為甚麼總不長呢？哦，願我的頭為水，願我的眼為眼淚之泉源，我好為我子民中被刺死的人晝夜哭泣。

永恆主啊，恩待我，因為我遭遇患難；我的眼睛由於愁苦而損壞；我的身心也都衰殘。

因為日子必到，你就看吧，那時人必說：「那不能生育的、那沒有生產過的胎、沒有乳養過的胸、有福啊！」

我因呼求而困乏，喉嚨發乾；我因等候上帝而眼睛失明。

『你要將這話對他們說：「願我的眼流下淚水，晝夜不息；因為我的子民受了極厲害的擊傷，破裂的破爛很大。
