雖然、在爾撒爾底亦頗有若干人涅而不緇、迄今未汙其服；若輩當得身被道袍、而從我遊矣。

務求己立立人、己達達人、戰戰兢兢、始終如一；如此方能自救、而救聽眾也。

若其工作被火燒燬、則必受損、僅以身免、有若脫火而已。

蓋正當之憂戚、令人悔改、而蒙救恩；亦何悔之有？惟世俗之憂戚、乃致死耳。曷一思之、爾等既循聖道而憂戚、其效果為何如耶？爾等因憂戚而儆惕、而反省、而發憤、而小心翼翼、而發揚蹈厲、而至誠無妄、而疾惡如讎矣。爾之處此事、實無在而不自證其為貞固也。夫吾之所以寓書於爾等者、固非為彼作惡者之故、亦非為被害者之故、惟欲在天主明鑒之下、測驗爾等對於吾儕之誠意云耳。

吾身雖在遠方、心則與爾等相俱；於此亂倫之人、予已判其罪矣。爾等奉耶穌基督名義召集會議、吾之神魂亦必參加斯會；吾人托吾主耶穌之權能、將此人交付於沙殫之手、以毀其肉身庶幾彼之靈魂、或可蒙救恩於主之大日。

兄弟幸毋自欺、結交匪人、必致敗德。

我於前書中、曾誡爾勿與淫亂之人來往；非指外界淫亂、慳吝、掠奪、迷信偶像之人也。吾豈欲爾脫離人世乎？吾意乃謂苟有自名為吾道中人、而猶淫亂、慳吝、迷信、慢罵、狂飲、勒索、誅求也、若此之人、應羞與為伍、雖拒與同席可也。

倘若有人不從此書之訓、當注意其人、羞與為伍、以激發其廉恥之心。

然苟有可以激發吾之同胞骨肉、而拯救若干人於淪亡者、正吾之所以忠於厥職耳。

吾勸爾向我購置百煉之金、俾成真富；純白之衣、用掩爾羞；傅目之膏、以啟爾視。
