These people are grumblers and complainers, living only to satisfy their desires. They brag loudly about themselves, and they flatter others to get what they want.

彼從欲者、怨尤詬誶、出口矜誇、為利諂人、

此等人常出怨言、不自知足、從其慾而行、口出矜誇、為利以諂人、○

此輩怨天尤人、牢騷滿腹、所行惟殉私欲、所言皆屬荒誕、阿諛諂媚、惟利是圖。

These people are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage.

These people complain and find fault with others. They follow their own evil desires. They brag about themselves. They praise others to get what they want.

These are grumblers, malcontents, following their own sinful desires; they are loud-mouthed boasters, showing favoritism to gain advantage.

These people are discontented grumblers, living according to their desires; their mouths utter arrogant words, flattering people for their own advantage.

These are grumblers, finding fault, following after their own lusts; they speak arrogantly, flattering people for the sake of gaining an advantage.

These are grumblers, complainers, walking according to their own lusts; and they mouth great swelling words, flattering people to gain advantage.

These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their lusts( and their mouth speaketh great swelling words), showing respect of persons for the sake of advantage.

These people are discontented grumblers, walking according to their desires; their mouths utter arrogant words, flattering people for their own advantage.

These people are grumblers and fault- finders who go wherever their desires lead them, and they give bombastic speeches, enchanting folks for their own gain.

They brag about themselves with empty, foolish boasting. With an appeal to twisted sexual desires, they lure back into sin those who have barely escaped from a lifestyle of deception.

He is especially hard on those who follow their own twisted sexual desire, and who despise authority. These people are proud and arrogant, daring even to scoff at supernatural beings without so much as trembling.

Do everything without complaining and arguing,

But there were also false prophets in Israel, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will cleverly teach destructive heresies and even deny the Master who bought them. In this way, they will bring sudden destruction on themselves.Many will follow their evil teaching and shameful immorality. And because of these teachers, the way of truth will be slandered.In their greed they will make up clever lies to get hold of your money. But God condemned them long ago, and their destruction will not be delayed.

The Lord is the one you and your followers are really revolting against! For who is Aaron that you are complaining about him?”

These people always cause trouble. Their minds are corrupt, and they have turned their backs on the truth. To them, a show of godliness is just a way to become wealthy.

And don’t grumble as some of them did, and then were destroyed by the angel of death.

“ Do not twist justice in legal matters by favoring the poor or being partial to the rich and powerful. Always judge people fairly.

Those who despise flagrant sinners, and honor the faithful followers of the Lord, and keep their promises even when it hurts.

You won’t spend the rest of your lives chasing your own desires, but you will be anxious to do the will of God.

They told you that in the last times there would be scoffers whose purpose in life is to satisfy their ungodly desires.

not in lustful passion like the pagans who do not know God and his ways.

Then the wayward will gain understanding, and complainers will accept instruction.

Dear friends, I warn you as“ temporary residents and foreigners” to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls.

Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away.These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.

They are without pity. Listen to their boasting!

Then the people began to murmur in disagreement because he had said,“ I am the bread that came down from heaven.”

The ten men Moses had sent to explore the land— the ones who incited rebellion against the Lord with their bad report—

For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear.

So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.

So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then.

Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there.

This made the Pharisees and teachers of religious law complain that he was associating with such sinful people— even eating with them!

My dear brothers and sisters, how can you claim to have faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ if you favor some people over others?For example, suppose someone comes into your meeting dressed in fancy clothes and expensive jewelry, and another comes in who is poor and dressed in dirty clothes.If you give special attention and a good seat to the rich person, but you say to the poor one,“ You can stand over there, or else sit on the floor”— well,doesn’t this discrimination show that your judgments are guided by evil motives?Listen to me, dear brothers and sisters. Hasn’t God chosen the poor in this world to be rich in faith? Aren’t they the ones who will inherit the Kingdom he promised to those who love him?But you dishonor the poor! Isn’t it the rich who oppress you and drag you into court?Aren’t they the ones who slander Jesus Christ, whose noble name you bear?Yes indeed, it is good when you obey the royal law as found in the Scriptures:“ Love your neighbor as yourself.”But if you favor some people over others, you are committing a sin. You are guilty of breaking the law.

But the people were displeased.“ He has gone to be the guest of a notorious sinner,” they grumbled.

You complained in your tents and said,‘ The Lord must hate us. That’s why he has brought us here from Egypt— to hand us over to the Amorites to be slaughtered.

He doesn’t care how great a person may be, and he pays no more attention to the rich than to the poor. He made them all.

to execute judgment on the people of the world. He will convict every person of all the ungodly things they have done and for all the insults that ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”

Jesus was aware that his disciples were complaining, so he said to them,“ Does this offend you?

You have closed their minds to understanding, but do not let them triumph.They betray their friends for their own advantage, so let their children faint with hunger.

They boast against the very heavens, and their words strut throughout the earth.And so the people are dismayed and confused, drinking in all their words.“ What does God know?” they ask.“ Does the Most High even know what’s happening?”

I won’t play favorites or try to flatter anyone.

Most importantly, I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires.

Showing partiality is never good, yet some will do wrong for a mere piece of bread.

Instead, they grumbled in their tents and refused to obey the Lord.

But the Pharisees and their teachers of religious law complained bitterly to Jesus’ disciples,“ Why do you eat and drink with such scum?”
