Then Joshua summoned the Gibeonites and said,“ Why did you deceive us by saying,‘ We live a long way from you,’ while actually you live near us?

Joshua sent for the people of Gibeon. He said to them,“ Why did you trick us? You said,‘ We live far away from you.’ But in fact you live close to us.

Joshua summoned them, and he said to them,“ Why did you deceive us, saying,‘ We are very far from you,’ when you dwell among us?

Joshua called together the Gibeonites and said,“ Why did you lie to us? Why did you say that you live in a distant land when you live right here among us?

Then Joshua called for them and spoke to them, saying,“ Why have you deceived us, saying,‘ We are very far from you,’ when you are living within our land?

他们去到吉甲营中约书亚那里，对约书亚和以色列人说：“我们是从远地来的，现在求你们和我们立约。”

以色列人和他们立约之后，过了三天，才听见他们是自己的近邻，是住在这地的居民。

到了早晨，雅各才看出原来是利亚，就对拉班说：“你向我作的是什么事呢？我服事你，不是为了拉结的缘故吗？你为什么欺骗我呢？”

他们回答约书亚：“你的仆人为了耶和华你神的名从很远的地方而来，因为我们听见了他的名声和他在埃及所行的一切事，以及他对约旦河东亚摩利人的两个王，就是希实本王西宏和在亚斯他录的巴珊王噩，所行的一切事。

以扫因为他父亲给雅各所祝的福，就怀恨雅各；以扫心里想：“为我父亲守丧的时候近了，到时我必杀我的弟弟雅各。”有人把利百加大儿子以扫所说的话告诉了利百加，她就派人把她小儿子雅各叫了来，对他说：“你哥哥以扫想要杀你，报仇雪恨。我儿啊，现在你要听我的话；起来，逃到哈兰我哥哥拉班那里去吧。与他住些时日，等到你哥哥的怒气消了。你哥哥对你消了怒气，忘记了你对他所作的事，我就派人去把你从那里接回来。我何必在一日之内丧失你们两个呢？”

耶和华神对女人说：“你作了什么事呢？”女人说：“那蛇欺哄我，我就吃了。”耶和华神对蛇说：“因为你作了这事，就必在所有的牲畜和田野的活物中受咒诅；你要用肚子行走，一生都吃泥土。

以撒说：“你弟弟已经前来，用诡计把你的祝福夺去了。”以扫说：“他名叫雅各不是很对吗？因为他欺骗了我两次。从前他夺去我的长子名分，现在他又夺去我的祝福。”以扫又说：“你再没有祝福留给我吗？”

我只怕你们的心受到引诱，失去对基督的单纯和贞洁，好像蛇用诡计骗了夏娃一样。
