Then Joshua tore his clothes and fell facedown to the ground before the ark of the Lord, remaining there till evening. The elders of Israel did the same, and sprinkled dust on their heads.

Joshua and the elders of Israel became sad. Joshua tore his clothes. He fell in front of the ark of the Lord with his face to the ground. He remained there until evening. The elders did the same thing. They also sprinkled dust on their heads.

Then Joshua tore his clothes and fell to the earth on his face before the ark of the Lord until the evening, he and the elders of Israel. And they put dust on their heads.

他們把塵土撒在頭上，哭泣哀慟喊着說：『有禍啊！有禍啊！那大城！那城裏頭凡有船在海中的、由她的珍寶而得財富的、有禍啊！一時之間她已變為荒涼了！

使徒巴拿巴保羅聽見了，就撕開衣裳，蹦跳衝出來在羣眾中間，喊着說：

末底改知道了人所作的這一切事，就撕裂衣服，穿麻布撒爐灰出去，在城中大聲哀呼，悲苦地哀呼。

未擺陣之先，以色列人上去，在永恆主面前哭哭啼啼、直到晚上，求問永恆主說：『再去同我們的族弟兄便雅憫人在戰陣上接觸、可以不可以？』永恆主說：『你們可以上去攻打他們。』

摩西、亞倫就臉伏於地說：『上帝啊，萬人之靈的上帝啊，一個人犯罪、你就要惱怒全會眾麼？』

那一天有一個便雅憫人從陣上跑來，到了示羅，衣裳撕裂，頭上放土。

大衛就為這孩子求問上帝；苦苦地禁食，進入內室，穿着麻布，躺在地上。

以色列眾人、就是眾民、便上去到了伯特利，坐在永恆主面前那裏哭；那一天禁食、直到晚上，又在永恆主面前獻上燔祭和平安祭。

『你要從這會眾中起來，我好在眨眼之間消滅他們。』二人就臉伏於地。

我一聽見了這事，就撕裂衣服和外袍，直拔頭髮跟鬍鬚，驚惶恐懼而坐着。凡因以色列上帝為了流亡返回的人之不忠實所發出的話而震慄戰兢的人、都聚集到我面前；我呢、也逕自驚惶恐懼而坐着，直到獻晚祭的時候。獻晚祭的時候、我從刻苦卑抑的情態中起來，我的衣服和外袍都撕裂着，我屈膝跪着，向永恆主我的上帝伸開了雙手禱告，

為了掃羅和掃羅的兒子約拿單、並為了永恆主的眾民、以色列家的人、就號咷哀哭，禁食到晚上，因為這許多人都倒斃於刀下。

以色列民來到伯特利，坐在那裏直到晚上，在上帝面前放聲大哭，
