Now Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is near Beth Aven to the east of Bethel, and told them,“ Go up and spy out the region.” So the men went up and spied out Ai.

他们北边的地界是从约旦河起，上到耶利哥斜坡的北边，再往西上到山区，直到伯‧亚文的旷野。

以色列啊，你虽然行淫，犹大却不可犯罪；不要往吉甲去，不要上到伯‧亚文，也不要指着永生的耶和华起誓。

非利士人集合，要与以色列人作战。他们有战车三万辆，骑兵六千，士兵像海边的沙那样多。他们上来，在伯‧亚文东边的密抹安营。

那日，耶和华使以色列人得胜，战争一直打到伯‧亚文。

你去打仗，要凭智谋；谋士众多，就必得胜。

计谋凭筹算立定，打仗要凭智谋。

从那里他又迁到伯特利东边的山，支搭帐棚；西边是伯特利，东边是艾。他在那里又为耶和华筑了一座坛，求告耶和华的名。

“看哪！我差你们出去，如同羊进入狼群，所以你们要机警如蛇，纯真如鸽。

便雅悯人从迦巴起，住在密抹、亚雅、伯特利和所属的乡镇、

他给那地方起名叫伯特利；那地方原先名叫路斯。

这些王是：耶利哥王一人，靠近伯特利的艾城王一人，

你们要谨慎行事，不要像无知的人，要像智慧的人。

嫩的儿子约书亚从什亭暗中派两个人作探子，说：“你们去窥探那地和耶利哥。”于是二人去了，来到一个名叫喇合的妓女家里，在那里睡觉。
