住在底本的人民哪！要從你們榮耀的位上下來，坐在乾旱的地上（“乾旱的地上”原文作“乾渴”），因為毀滅摩押的要上來攻擊你們，摧毀你們的堅固城。

有一位大力的天使，把一塊好像大磨石一樣的石頭，舉起來拋在海裡，說：“巴比倫大城也必這樣被猛力地拋下去，決不能再找到了！

在那天，約書亞佔領了瑪基大，用刀擊殺了那城的人和那城的王，把城中所有的人完全毀滅，不容一人逃脫；他對待瑪基大王就像對待耶利哥王一樣。

先知對王說：“耶和華這樣說：因為你把我要滅絕的人從你手中放走，所以要你替他償命。要你的人民抵償他的人民。”

他們回答約書亞，說：“因為你的僕人確實地聽見，耶和華你的神曾經吩咐他的僕人摩西，要把這整片土地賜給你們，並且要在你們面前把這地上所有的居民都消滅，因此，我們因你們的緣故，很怕喪命，才行了這事。現在，你看，我們都在你的手裡，你看怎樣處置我們算為好、算為對，就怎樣行吧。”

耶和華你的神把他們交給你，你打敗了他們的時候，你要完全毀滅他們，不可與他們立約，也不可恩待他們。不可與他們通婚，不可把你的女兒嫁給他們的兒子，也不可為你的兒子娶他們的女兒。

那時我們奪取了他所有的城邑，把每一座城，連男帶女，以及小孩子都全部毀滅，沒有留下一個存活的；

只是在耶和華你的神賜給你作產業的這些國民的城市裡，凡有氣息的，連一個你也不可讓他活著；只要照著耶和華你的神吩咐你的，把赫人、亞摩利人、迦南人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人，完全滅絕；

生擒了亞瑪力人的王亞甲，用刀殺滅了所有人民。

約書亞佔領了這城，抓住這城的王，又佔領了屬於這城的一切城鎮；以色列人用刀擊殺他們，把城中所有的人都毀滅了；約書亞不容一人逃脫，他怎樣對待希伯崙，也照樣對待底璧和底璧的王；也好像他對待立拿和立拿的王一樣。

差遣你去，說：‘你去徹底毀滅那些犯罪的亞瑪力人，攻打他們，直到把他們全部毀滅。’你為甚麼沒有聽從耶和華的話，急於奪取戰利品，作了耶和華看為惡的事呢？”

那些城所有的戰利品和牲畜，以色列人都據為己有；只是把所有的人都用刀擊殺了，直到把他們殺盡；有氣息的，他們沒有留下一個。

現在你要去攻打亞瑪力人，徹底毀滅他們所有的一切，不可憐惜他們。無論男女、孩童，或吃奶的嬰兒，牛羊、駱駝、驢子，都要殺死。’”

耶和華你的神交給你的所有民族，你都要把他們消滅；你的眼不可憐惜他們；你也不可事奉他們的神，因為這必成為你的網羅。
