He said to him,“ Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.

but showing faithful love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commands.

We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.

Then Jesus told him,“ Go away, Satan! For it is written: Worship the Lord your God, and serve only him.”

“ Therefore, fear the LORD and worship him in sincerity and truth. Get rid of the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and worship the LORD.But if it doesn’t please you to worship the LORD, choose for yourselves today: Which will you worship— the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living? As for me and my family, we will worship the LORD.”

“ If you carefully obey my commands I am giving you today, to love the LORD your God and worship him with all your heart and all your soul,

For if you carefully observe every one of these commands I am giving you to follow— to love the LORD your God, walk in all his ways, and remain faithful to him—

Blessed is the one who endures trials, because when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

“ Therefore, love the LORD your God and always keep his mandate and his statutes, ordinances, and commands.

For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with goodness, goodness with knowledge,knowledge with self-control, self-control with endurance, endurance with godliness,godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love.For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being useless or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.The person who lacks these things is blind and shortsighted and has forgotten the cleansing from his past sins.Therefore, brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election, because if you do these things you will never stumble.

“ Now, Israel, listen to the statutes and ordinances I am teaching you to follow, so that you may live, enter, and take possession of the land the LORD, the God of your ancestors, is giving you.You must not add anything to what I command you or take anything away from it, so that you may keep the commands of the LORD your God I am giving you.

Instead, be loyal to the LORD your God, as you have been to this day.

If anyone serves me, he must follow me. Where I am, there my servant also will be. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.

“ Only be on your guard and diligently watch yourselves, so that you don’t forget the things your eyes have seen and so that they don’t slip from your mind as long as you live. Teach them to your children and your grandchildren.

When he arrived and saw the grace of God, he was glad and encouraged all of them to remain true to the Lord with devoted hearts,

Listen, my dear brothers and sisters: Didn’t God choose the poor in this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that he has promised to those who love him?

You have commanded that your precepts be diligently kept.If only my ways were committed to keeping your statutes!Then I would not be ashamed when I think about all your commands.

Why do you spend silver on what is not food, and your wages on what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to me, and eat what is good, and you will enjoy the choicest of foods.

“ No one can serve two masters, since either he will hate one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

“ If you love me, you will keep my commands.

Make sure that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no root of bitterness springs up, causing trouble and defiling many.

Samuel replied,“ Don’t be afraid. Even though you have committed all this evil, don’t turn away from following the LORD. Instead, worship the LORD with all your heart.

Above all, fear the LORD and worship him faithfully with all your heart; consider the great things he has done for you.

For last night an angel of the God I belong to and serve stood by me

If they will diligently learn the ways of my people— to swear by my name,‘ As the LORD lives,’ just as they taught my people to swear by Baal— they will be built up among my people.

I will establish his kingdom forever if he perseveres in keeping my commands and my ordinances as he is doing today.’“ So now in the sight of all Israel, the assembly of the LORD, and in the hearing of our God, observe and follow all the commands of the LORD your God so that you may possess this good land and leave it as an inheritance to your descendants forever.

Samuel told them,“ If you are returning to the LORD with all your heart, get rid of the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths that are among you, set your hearts on the LORD, and worship only him. Then he will rescue you from the Philistines.”

He said,“ If you will carefully obey the LORD your God, do what is right in his sight, pay attention to his commands, and keep all his statutes, I will not inflict any illnesses on you that I inflicted on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you.”

You must follow the LORD your God and fear him. You must keep his commands and listen to him; you must worship him and remain faithful to him.

having been rescued from the hand of our enemies, would serve him without fear

Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart.Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.Bind them as a sign on your hand and let them be a symbol on your forehead.Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your city gates.

Carefully follow them, for this will show your wisdom and understanding in the eyes of the peoples. When they hear about all these statutes, they will say,‘ This great nation is indeed a wise and understanding people.’

But you who have remained faithful to the LORD your God are all alive today.

Now we desire each of you to demonstrate the same diligence for the full assurance of your hope until the end,so that you won’t become lazy but will be imitators of those who inherit the promises through faith and perseverance.

God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in telling the good news about his Son— that I constantly mention you,

Let love be without hypocrisy. Detest evil; cling to what is good.

When they had eaten breakfast, Jesus asked Simon Peter,“ Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?”“ Yes, Lord,” he said to him,“ you know that I love you.”“ Feed my lambs,” he told him.A second time he asked him,“ Simon, son of John, do you love me?”“ Yes, Lord,” he said to him,“ you know that I love you.”“ Shepherd my sheep,” he told him.He asked him the third time,“ Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved that he asked him the third time,“ Do you love me?” He said,“ Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.”“ Feed my sheep,” Jesus said.

Guard your heart above all else, for it is the source of life.

You are to fear the LORD your God and worship him. Remain faithful to him and take oaths in his name.

The one who has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. And the one who loves me will be loved by my Father. I also will love him and will reveal myself to him.”Judas( not Iscariot) said to him,“ Lord, how is it you’re going to reveal yourself to us and not to the world?”Jesus answered,“ If anyone loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.

“ And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you except to fear the LORD your God by walking in all his ways, to love him, and to worship the LORD your God with all your heart and all your soul?Keep the LORD’s commands and statutes I am giving you today, for your own good.

How happy are those who uphold justice, who practice righteousness at all times.
