They gave them Kiriath Arba( that is, Hebron), with its surrounding pastureland, in the hill country of Judah.( Arba was the forefather of Anak.)

不久，玛丽亚便动身赶到犹太山区的一座城，

以色列各支派都来希伯仑见大卫，对他说：“我们是你的骨肉同胞。从前扫罗做王的时候，率领以色列人出征打仗的是你，耶和华也曾应许让你做祂以色列子民的牧者和首领。”以色列的长老都到希伯仑见大卫王，大卫与他们在耶和华面前立约，他们膏立大卫做以色列的王。大卫三十岁登基，执政共四十年。他在希伯仑统治犹大七年半，在耶路撒冷统治以色列和犹大三十三年。

过了四年，押沙龙对王说：“请让我到希伯仑去还我向耶和华许下的愿吧。

这事以后，大卫求问耶和华：“我可以回到犹大的城邑吗？”耶和华说：“可以。”大卫又问：“我应该回到哪一座城呢？”耶和华说：“希伯仑。”大卫就带着他的两个妻子耶斯列人亚希暖和迦密人拿八的遗孀亚比该，一起上到希伯仑。他还把部下和他们的家属一起带去，住在希伯仑地区的城邑。

于是，民众便设立拿弗他利山区加利利境内的基低斯、以法莲山区的示剑和犹大山区的基列·亚巴，即希伯仑作为避难城。他们又在约旦河、耶利哥东面空旷的平原上设立吕便支派的比悉，迦得支派基列境内的拉末和玛拿西支派巴珊境内的哥兰作为避难城。这是为以色列人和那些从外地来寄居的人所设立的避难城，误杀了人的可以逃到那里，不致未在会众面前受审便死在报仇的人手里。

宏他、基列·亚巴——即希伯仑、洗珥，共九座城及其附近的乡村。

雅各来到他父亲以撒住的幔利，即基列·亚巴，也就是亚伯拉罕和以撒寄居的地方。基列·亚巴就是希伯仑。

希伯仑从前名叫基列·亚巴，亚巴原是亚衲族中最伟大的人。从此，境内太平，没有战争。
