“ Tell the Israelites to designate the cities of refuge, as I instructed you through Moses,

“ Tell the Israelites to choose the cities to go to for safety, just as I directed you through Moses.

“ Say to the people of Israel,‘ Appoint the cities of refuge, of which I spoke to you through Moses,

“ Now tell the Israelites to designate the cities of refuge, as I instructed Moses.

“ Tell the Israelites: Select your cities of refuge, as I instructed you through Moses,

“ Speak to the sons of Israel, saying,‘ Designate the cities of refuge, of which I spoke to you through Moses,

“ Speak to the children of Israel, saying:‘ Appoint for yourselves cities of refuge, of which I spoke to you through Moses,

Speak to the children of Israel, saying, Assign you the cities of refuge, whereof I spake unto you by Moses,

“ Tell the Israelites: Select your cities of refuge, as I instructed you through Moses,

Speak to the children of Israel, saying, Appoint out for you cities of refuge, whereof I spake unto you by the hand of Moses:

“ Have the Israelites select the cities of refuge that I told you about through Moses.

“ Speak to the children of Israel, saying,‘ Assign the cities of refuge, of which I spoke to you by Moses,

Then Moses set aside three cities east of the Jordan,to which anyone who had killed a person could flee if they had unintentionally killed a neighbor without malice aforethought. They could flee into one of these cities and save their life.The cities were these: Bezer in the wilderness plateau, for the Reubenites; Ramoth in Gilead, for the Gadites; and Golan in Bashan, for the Manassites. (niv)

“ Six of the towns you give the Levites will be cities of refuge, to which a person who has killed someone may flee. In addition, give them forty-two other towns. (niv)

select some towns to be your cities of refuge, to which a person who has killed someone accidentally may flee.They will be places of refuge from the avenger, so that anyone accused of murder may not die before they stand trial before the assembly.These six towns you give will be your cities of refuge.Give three on this side of the Jordan and three in Canaan as cities of refuge.These six towns will be a place of refuge for Israelites and for foreigners residing among them, so that anyone who has killed another accidentally can flee there.“‘ If anyone strikes someone a fatal blow with an iron object, that person is a murderer; the murderer is to be put to death.Or if anyone is holding a stone and strikes someone a fatal blow with it, that person is a murderer; the murderer is to be put to death.Or if anyone is holding a wooden object and strikes someone a fatal blow with it, that person is a murderer; the murderer is to be put to death.The avenger of blood shall put the murderer to death; when the avenger comes upon the murderer, the avenger shall put the murderer to death.If anyone with malice aforethought shoves another or throws something at them intentionally so that they dieor if out of enmity one person hits another with their fist so that the other dies, that person is to be put to death; that person is a murderer. The avenger of blood shall put the murderer to death when they meet.“‘ But if without enmity someone suddenly pushes another or throws something at them unintentionallyor, without seeing them, drops on them a stone heavy enough to kill them, and they die, then since that other person was not an enemy and no harm was intended,the assembly must judge between the accused and the avenger of blood according to these regulations. (niv)

then set aside for yourselves three cities in the land the Lord your God is giving you to possess.Determine the distances involved and divide into three parts the land the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, so that a person who kills someone may flee for refuge to one of these cities.This is the rule concerning anyone who kills a person and flees there for safety— anyone who kills a neighbor unintentionally, without malice aforethought.For instance, a man may go into the forest with his neighbor to cut wood, and as he swings his ax to fell a tree, the head may fly off and hit his neighbor and kill him. That man may flee to one of these cities and save his life.Otherwise, the avenger of blood might pursue him in a rage, overtake him if the distance is too great, and kill him even though he is not deserving of death, since he did it to his neighbor without malice aforethought.This is why I command you to set aside for yourselves three cities.If the Lord your God enlarges your territory, as he promised on oath to your ancestors, and gives you the whole land he promised them,because you carefully follow all these laws I command you today— to love the Lord your God and to walk always in obedience to him— then you are to set aside three more cities.Do this so that innocent blood will not be shed in your land, which the Lord your God is giving you as your inheritance, and so that you will not be guilty of bloodshed.But if out of hate someone lies in wait, assaults and kills a neighbor, and then flees to one of these cities,the killer shall be sent for by the town elders, be brought back from the city, and be handed over to the avenger of blood to die.Show no pity. You must purge from Israel the guilt of shedding innocent blood, so that it may go well with you. (niv)

Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died— more than that, who was raised to life— is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. (niv)

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, (niv)

God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged.We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, (niv)

However, if it is not done intentionally, but God lets it happen, they are to flee to a place I will designate.But if anyone schemes and kills someone deliberately, that person is to be taken from my altar and put to death. (niv)
