As the men started on their way to map out the land, Joshua instructed them,“ Go and make a survey of the land and write a description of it. Then return to me, and I will cast lots for you here at Shiloh in the presence of the Lord.”

以色列全会众都聚集在示罗，把会幕设立在那里。那地已经被他们征服了。

你们把地划成七份之后，就要把所写的带到我这里来。我要在耶和华—我们的上帝面前，为你们抽签。

扫罗向耶和华—以色列的上帝祷告说：“求你指示正确的答案。”抽中的是扫罗和约拿单，百姓尽都无事。

这是以色列人在迦南地所得的产业，就是祭司以利亚撒和嫩的儿子约书亚，以及以色列人各支派父系的领袖所分给他们的。他们照耶和华藉摩西所吩咐的，抽签分产业给九个半支派。

你起来，纵横走遍这地，因为我必把这地赐给你。”

于是，约书亚清早起来，召以色列按着支派近前来。选出来的是犹大支派。他召犹大的宗族近前来，选出来的是谢拉宗族。他召谢拉宗族，按着男丁，一个一个近前来，选出来的是撒底。他召撒底的家族，按着男丁，一个一个近前来，就选出犹大支派，谢拉的曾孙，撒底的孙子，迦米的儿子亚干。

犹大支派按着宗族抽签所得之地是在最南端，到以东的边界，往南直到寻的旷野。

现在你要把这地分给九个支派和玛拿西半个支派为业。
