犹大人没能把住在耶路撒冷的耶布斯人赶出去，他们至今仍然跟犹大人一同居住。

一定要赶走当地的居民，毁掉他们一切的石像和铸像，拆毁他们所有的丘坛。你们要占领那片土地，住在那里，因为我已经把那里赐给你们作产业了。你们要按宗族家系抽签分配土地，人口多的多分，人口少的少分，抽到哪块地就得哪块地。如果你们不赶走那里的居民，留下来的人必成为你们眼里的刺和肋旁的荆棘，在你们所居之地搅扰你们，我也会用预备对付他们的方法来对付你们。’”

他们没有赶走住在基色的迦南人，迦南人至今还住在以法莲人当中，为他们服劳役。

所以，不要让罪辖制你们必死的身体，使你们顺从身体的私欲；也不要将你们的身体献给罪作不义的工具，而是要像一个从死里复活的人将自己奉献给上帝，把身体献给上帝作义的工具。罪不能再主宰你们，因为你们已经不在律法之下，而是在恩典之中。
