汪洋浩瀚，充滿了無數的大小水族，船隻往來於海上，你造的鯨魚也在水中嬉戲。

耶和華啊，我聽過你的威名；耶和華啊，我對你的作為充滿敬畏。求你如今再次彰顯你的作為，求你發怒的時候仍以憐憫為念。

上帝就造了海中的大魚等各類水族和各類禽鳥。上帝看了，感到滿意。

後來，耶和華上帝安排了一棵蓖麻迅速地長起來，為約拿遮蔭，使他的頭免受日曬。約拿因有這棵蓖麻而非常歡喜。
