因为海浪越来越汹涌，他们又对他说：“我们该怎样处置你，才能叫海浪平静呢？”

他们又对他说：“我们该对你怎么做，才能使海为我们平静下来呢？”因为海浪越来越汹涌了。

他們問他說：「我們當向你怎樣行，使海浪平靜呢？」這話是因海浪越發翻騰。

他們就問他說：『我們應該怎樣處置你，使海平靜下來、而不沖撞我們？』這是因為海越來越翻騰着。

他們又問他：「我們該對你怎麼做，才能使海為我們平靜下來呢？」因為海浪越來越洶湧了。

又謂之曰、我當何以待爾、使海為我而恬靜乎、因海久而愈盪、

又曰、今海震盪愈甚、當若何待爾、則風浪可息。

又曰、今海之波濤洶湧已甚、當若何待爾、使海恬靜乎、

The sea was getting rougher and rougher. So they asked him,“ What should we do to you to make the sea calm down for us?”

Then they said to him,“ What shall we do to you, that the sea may quiet down for us?” For the sea grew more and more tempestuous.

And since the storm was getting worse all the time, they asked him,“ What should we do to you to stop this storm?”

So they said to him,“ What should we do to you so that the sea will calm down for us?” For the sea was getting worse and worse.

So they said to him,“ What should we do to you so that the sea will become calm for us?”— for the sea was becoming increasingly stormy.

Then they said to him,“ What shall we do to you that the sea may be calm for us?”— for the sea was growing more tempestuous.

Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea grew more and more tempestuous.

So they said to him,“ What should we do to you to calm this sea that’s against us?” For the sea was getting worse and worse.

Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous.

Because the storm was growing worse and worse, they said to him,“ What should we do to you to make the sea calm down for us?”

Then they said to him,“ What shall we do to you, that the sea may be calm to us?” For the sea grew more and more stormy.

大衛在位年間有饑荒，一連三年，大衛求問耶和華，耶和華說：「掃羅和他家犯了流人血之罪，因為他殺死了基遍人。」大衛王召了基遍人來，跟他們說話。基遍人不是以色列人，而是亞摩利人中所剩下的人。以色列人曾向他們起誓，掃羅卻為以色列人和猶大人大發熱心，追殺他們，為了要消滅他們。大衛對基遍人說：「我當為你們做甚麼呢？要用甚麼贖這罪，使你們為耶和華的產業祝福呢？」基遍人對他說：「我們和掃羅以及他家的事與金銀無關，也不要因我們的緣故殺任何以色列人。」大衛說：「你們怎樣說，我就為你們怎樣做。」他們對王說：「那謀害我們、要消滅我們、使我們不得住以色列境內的人，請把他的子孫七人交給我們，我們好在耶和華面前，把他們懸掛在基比亞，就是耶和華揀選掃羅的地方。」王說：「我必交給你們。」

大衛早晨起來，耶和華的話臨到迦得先知，就是大衛的先見，說：「你去告訴大衛：『耶和華如此說：我向你提出三樣，隨你選擇一樣，我好降給你。』」於是迦得來到大衛那裏告訴他，問他：「你要國中有七年的饑荒呢？或是你在敵人面前逃跑，被追趕三個月呢？或是在你國中有三日的瘟疫呢？現在你要考慮思量，我怎樣去回覆那差我來的。」

「我朝見耶和華，在至高上帝面前跪拜，當獻上甚麼呢？難道獻一歲的牛犢為燔祭來朝見他嗎？耶和華豈喜悅千千的公羊，或是萬萬的油河嗎？我豈可為自己的過犯獻我的長子，為自己的罪惡獻我所親生的嗎？」

非利士人召了祭司和占卜的來，說：「我們向耶和華的約櫃應當怎樣做呢？請指示我們要用甚麼方法把約櫃送回原處。」他們說：「若要將以色列上帝的約櫃送回去，不可空手送回，一定要給他獻賠罪的禮物，然後你們才可以得痊癒，並且知道他的手為何不離開你們。」
