Then the men were seized by a great fear and said to him,“ What have you done?” The men knew he was fleeing from the LORD’s presence because he had told them.

約拿亦明告之以己逃避主、眾知此則懼甚、謂之曰、爾何為行此、

This terrified them and they asked,“ What have you done?”( They knew he was running away from the Lord, because he had already told them so.)

They found out he was running away from the Lord. That’s because he had told them. Then they became terrified. So they asked him,“ How could you do a thing like that?”

Then the men were exceedingly afraid and said to him,“ What is this that you have done!” For the men knew that he was fleeing from the presence of the Lord, because he had told them.

The sailors were terrified when they heard this, for he had already told them he was running away from the Lord.“ Oh, why did you do it?” they groaned.

Then the men became extremely afraid, and they said to him,“ How could you do this?” For the men knew that he was fleeing from the presence of the Lord, because he had told them.

Hearing this, the men became even more afraid and said to him,“ What have you done?”( The men said this because they knew that he was trying to escape from the LORD, because he had previously told them.)

Jonah got up to flee to Tarshish from the LORD’s presence. He went down to Joppa and found a ship going to Tarshish. He paid the fare and went down into it to go with them to Tarshish from the LORD’s presence.

It blasts at him without mercy, while he flees desperately from its force.

Joshua said,“ Why have you brought us trouble? Today the LORD will bring you trouble!” So all Israel stoned them to death. They burned their bodies, threw stones on them,

Joab replied to the king,“ May the LORD your God multiply the troops a hundred times more than they are— while my lord the king looks on! But why does my lord the king want to do this?”

his face turned pale, and his thoughts so terrified him that he soiled himself and his knees knocked together.The king shouted to bring in the mediums, Chaldeans, and diviners. He said to these wise men of Babylon,“ Whoever reads this inscription and gives me its interpretation will be clothed in purple, have a gold chain around his neck, and have the third highest position in the kingdom.”So all the king’s wise men came in, but none could read the inscription or make its interpretation known to him.Then King Belshazzar became even more terrified, his face turned pale, and his nobles were bewildered.

When Pilate heard this statement, he was more afraid than ever.
