一個黑暗墨黑的日子，一個密雲暗霧的日子，像烏黑鋪滿着山嶺的是一團隊蝗蟲、又大又強盛；從來沒有這樣的，以後也不會再有，直到萬代萬年。

是日也、昏暗晦冥、密雲深厚、有一族至、既大且強、勢若晨光布於山上、自古迄今、未有若此者、歷至萬世亦無之、

為幽暗晦冥之日、密雲黑雲之日、異族將至、既強且眾、勢若晨光、鋪於山巔、自古以來、未有若是者、斯後及於世世、亦必無有若是者、

a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness. Like dawn spreading across the mountains a large and mighty army comes, such as never was in ancient times nor ever will be in ages to come.

That day will be dark and sad. It will be black and cloudy. A huge army of locusts is coming. They will spread across the mountains like the sun when it rises. There has never been an army like it. And there will never be another for all time to come.

a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and thick darkness! Like blackness there is spread upon the mountains a great and powerful people; their like has never been before, nor will be again after them through the years of all generations.

異族犯境、強而且眾、不可勝數、其齒若牡獅、

昔我降飛蝗若大軍、凡有四隊、土之所產、食之務盡、厥後我必以豐年賜爾、

我耶和華之日、其象若何、幽暗無光、爾曹欲其速至、禍不遠矣。譬諸人避獅而遇熊、入室附壁、為蛇所嚙、耶和華之日、豈能陰翳、絕少光明、幽深玄遠、毫不明徹、

我耶和華之日伊邇、其至甚速、武士聞之、慘慘號呼、是日我將震怒、人民遭難、荒蕪傾圯、幽深玄遠、杳冥晦暗、

其來之時、天地震動、日月晦冥、星辰無光、耶和華出令、有眾禀命、營壘甚廣、軍威甚壯、耶和華降災之日、甚為可畏、孰能禦之、

若車轟轟、震越山巔、若火焚稈、熚爆有聲、譬彼勁敵、列陳以戰、

日變晦冥、月為血色、我耶和華顯赫之日隨至、

斯時必有大難、自生民以來、越之於今、未之有也、大君米加勒必將崛興、扞衛爾民、凡名錄於册者、必蒙拯救。

如海波濤、自吐污沫、如星離舍、永歸幽暗、

爾之宮幃、臣民之第宅、蝗充斥之、自爾祖爾父至於今日、皆未嘗見也。摩西退。○

爾素責我、及我士師、必降大災、今已應矣、降罰耶路撒冷、較天下民尤嚴、

以為吾身不遭憂患、子孫不至艱危兮、

蝗至埃及、棲於四境、自古迄今、至於後世、殆亦未有若此之甚。

長老居民、尚其聽之哉、我將有言、乃爾父及今所未聞也、當告若子若孫歷代毋忘、

眾集於谷、以受刑罰、我耶和華亦至斯谷、降災於眾、其日伊邇、日月晦冥、星辰無光、

往古之日、當憶勿忘、歷代之年、思念在心、問之於父、父必示爾、詰諸長老、彼將告爾。

於是民遙立、而摩西至上帝所、幽深玄遠之處。○

昔我造山作風、使晝往夜來、陟諸崇坵、推測人意、萬有之主耶和華、我名也。

爾所至者、非有形之山、在彼火焰靉靆、幽暗暴風、

彼居厥位、幽深玄遠、以大公為址、以仁義為基兮、

蓋是日也、敵軍之勢、若海濤之澎湃、人望岸間、其象愁慘、其色幽暗、晦其光明、蔽以靉靆。

自上帝造物以來、未有如此、後亦無有、

爾之上帝耶和華、宜虔共寅畏、否則使爾幽暗、顛躓於晦冥之岡、爾所望之光、變為陰翳昏黑。
