Gather the people. Sanctify the assembly. Assemble the elders. Gather the children, and those who nurse from breasts. Let the bridegroom go out of his room, and the bride out of her room.

Yahweh said to Moses,“ Go to the people, and sanctify them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their garments,

It was so, when the days of their feasting had run their course, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said,“ It may be that my sons have sinned, and renounced God in their hearts.” Job did so continually.

Get up! Sanctify the people, and say,‘ Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow, for Yahweh, the God of Israel, says,“ There is a devoted thing among you, Israel. You cannot stand before your enemies until you take away the devoted thing from among you.”

which is as a bridegroom coming out of his room, like a strong man rejoicing to run his course.

Sanctify a fast. Call a solemn assembly. Gather the elders, and all the inhabitants of the land, to the house of Yahweh, your God, and cry to Yahweh.

He made a proclamation and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying,“ Let neither man nor animal, herd nor flock, taste anything; let them not feed, nor drink water;but let them be covered with sackcloth, both man and animal, and let them cry mightily to God. Yes, let them turn everyone from his evil way, and from the violence that is in his hands.

Jesus said to them,“ Can the friends of the bridegroom mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.

All of you stand today in the presence of Yahweh your God: your heads, your tribes, your elders, and your officers, even all the men of Israel,your little ones, your wives, and the foreigners who are in the middle of your camps, from the one who cuts your wood to the one who draws your water,

Kill the Passover, sanctify yourselves, and prepare for your brothers, to do according to Yahweh’s word by Moses.”

who sets his heart to seek God, Yahweh, the God of his fathers, even if they aren’t clean according to the purification of the sanctuary.”

They brought near the male goats for the sin offering before the king and the assembly; and they laid their hands on them.Then the priests killed them, and they made a sin offering with their blood on the altar, to make atonement for all Israel; for the king commanded that the burnt offering and the sin offering should be made for all Israel.
