Of a truth I know that it is so: But how can man be just with God?

我誠知其若是、但人於上帝前、安能為義、

我深知有如此、然人於天主前、焉得自辯為義、然人於天主前焉得自辯為義或作然人於天主前豈得視為有義

“ Indeed, I know that this is true. But how can mere mortals prove their innocence before God?

“ I’m sure that what you have said is true. But how can human beings prove to God they are not guilty?

“ Truly I know that it is so: But how can a man be in the right before God?

“ Yes, I know all this is true in principle. But how can a person be declared innocent in God’s sight?

Yes, I know what you’ve said is true, but how can a person be justified before God?

“ In truth I know that this is so; But how can a person be in the right with God?

“ Truly I know it is so, But how can a man be righteous before God?

Yes, I know what you’ve said is true, but how can a person be justified before God?

I know[ it is] so of a truth: but how should man be just with God?

Shall mortal man be more just than God? Shall a man be more pure than his Maker?

because by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified in his sight; for through the law cometh the knowledge of sin.

How then can man be just with God? Or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?

And enter not into judgment with thy servant; For in thy sight no man living is righteous.

For Job hath said, I am righteous, And God hath taken away my right:

Then was kindled the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram: against Job was his wrath kindled, because he justified himself rather than God.

If they sin against thee( for there is no man that sinneth not), and thou be angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captive unto the land of the enemy, far off or near;

If thou, Jehovah, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand?

I am clean, without transgression; I am innocent, neither is there iniquity in me:

And dost thou open thine eyes upon such a one, And bringest me into judgment with thee?Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.
