This is the way he governs the nations and provides food in abundance.

The rain he sends makes things grow for the nations. He provides them with plenty of food.

For by these he judges peoples; he gives food in abundance.

He makes these things happen either to punish people or to show his unfailing love.

He gives food to every living thing. His faithful love endures forever.

You send rain on the mountains from your heavenly home, and you fill the earth with the fruit of your labor.You cause grass to grow for the livestock and plants for people to use. You allow them to produce food from the earth—wine to make them glad, olive oil to soothe their skin, and bread to give them strength.

They all depend on you to give them food as they need it.When you supply it, they gather it. You open your hand to feed them, and they are richly satisfied.

Remember how the Lord your God led you through the wilderness for these forty years, humbling you and testing you to prove your character, and to find out whether or not you would obey his commands.

“ Have you visited the storehouses of the snow or seen the storehouses of hail?( I have reserved them as weapons for the time of trouble, for the day of battle and war.)

So Moses lifted his staff toward the sky, and the Lord sent thunder and hail, and lightning flashed toward the earth. The Lord sent a tremendous hailstorm against all the land of Egypt.Never in all the history of Egypt had there been a storm like that, with such devastating hail and continuous lightning.It left all of Egypt in ruins. The hail struck down everything in the open field— people, animals, and plants alike. Even the trees were destroyed.

Do not forget that he led you through the great and terrifying wilderness with its poisonous snakes and scorpions, where it was so hot and dry. He gave you water from the rock!

Then the Lord rained down fire and burning sulfur from the sky on Sodom and Gomorrah.

You take care of the earth and water it, making it rich and fertile. The river of God has plenty of water; it provides a bountiful harvest of grain, for you have ordered it so.You drench the plowed ground with rain, melting the clods and leveling the ridges. You soften the earth with showers and bless its abundant crops.You crown the year with a bountiful harvest; even the hard pathways overflow with abundance.The grasslands of the wilderness become a lush pasture, and the hillsides blossom with joy.The meadows are clothed with flocks of sheep, and the valleys are carpeted with grain. Those who fight against the Lord will be shattered. He thunders against them from heaven; the Lord judges throughout the earth. He gives power to his king; he increases the strength of his anointed one.”

As the Amorites retreated down the road from Beth horon, the Lord destroyed them with a terrible hailstorm from heaven that continued until they reached Azekah. The hail killed more of the enemy than the Israelites killed with the sword.

So Samuel called to the Lord, and the Lord sent thunder and rain that day. And all the people were terrified of the Lord and of Samuel.

Who makes the rain fall on barren land, in a desert where no one lives?Who sends rain to satisfy the parched ground and make the tender grass spring up?

For forty days the floodwaters grew deeper, covering the ground and lifting the boat high above the earth.As the waters rose higher and higher above the ground, the boat floated safely on the surface.Finally, the water covered even the highest mountains on the earth,rising more than twenty two feet above the highest peaks.All the living things on earth died— birds, domestic animals, wild animals, small animals that scurry along the ground, and all the people.Everything that breathed and lived on dry land died.God wiped out every living thing on the earth— people, livestock, small animals that scurry along the ground, and the birds of the sky. All were destroyed. The only people who survived were Noah and those with him in the boat.And the floodwaters covered the earth for 150 days.

Just as Samuel was sacrificing the burnt offering, the Philistines arrived to attack Israel. But the Lord spoke with a mighty voice of thunder from heaven that day, and the Philistines were thrown into such confusion that the Israelites defeated them.
