You say he does not respond to sinners with anger and is not greatly concerned about wickedness.

但如今因他未曾发怒降罚，也不甚理会狂傲，

如今呢、他的忿怒既未曾行察罰，你便說他不很理會人的過犯。』

今因上帝未加以怒、不甚介意於傲慢、

今上帝猶未震怒、薄加譴責。

今雖言天主震怒以降罰、猶不視為降罰、尚未細察大過、

and further, that his anger never punishes and he does not take the least notice of wickedness.

When you say his anger never punishes sin, he won’t hear you. He won’t listen when you say he doesn’t pay any attention to evil.

And now, because his anger does not punish, and he does not take much note of transgression,

But now, because God’s anger does not punish and he does not pay attention to transgression,

And now, because He has not avenged His anger, Nor has He acknowledged wrongdoing well,

And now, because He has not punished in His anger, Nor taken much notice of folly,

But now, because he hath not visited in his anger, Neither doth he greatly regard arrogance;

But now, because God’s anger does not punish and He does not pay attention to transgression,

But now, because[ it is] not[ so], he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth[ it] not in great extremity:

And further, when you say that his anger does not punish, and that he does not know transgression!

But now, because he has not visited in his anger, neither does he greatly regard arrogance.

then I will punish their sin with the rod, and their disobedience with beating.

Can those in the grave declare your unfailing love? Can they proclaim your faithfulness in the place of destruction?Can the darkness speak of your wonderful deeds? Can anyone in the land of forgetfulness talk about your righteousness?O Lord, I cry out to you. I will keep on pleading day by day.O Lord, why do you reject me? Why do you turn your face from me?I have been sick and close to death since my youth. I stand helpless and desperate before your terrors.Your fierce anger has overwhelmed me. Your terrors have paralyzed me.

“ Oh, how can I give you up, Israel? How can I let you go? How can I destroy you like Admah or demolish you like Zeboiim? My heart is torn within me, and my compassion overflows.No, I will not unleash my fierce anger. I will not completely destroy Israel, for I am God and not a mere mortal. I am the Holy One living among you, and I will not come to destroy.

No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening— it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees.

But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron,“ Because you did not trust me enough to demonstrate my holiness to the people of Israel, you will not lead them into the land I am giving them!”

God might kill me, but I have no other hope. I am going to argue my case with him.

“ So who am I, that I should try to answer God or even reason with him?

I correct and discipline everyone I love. So be diligent and turn from your indifference.

But now when trouble strikes, you lose heart. You are terrified when it touches you.

But now, since you didn’t believe what I said, you will be silent and unable to speak until the child is born. For my words will certainly be fulfilled at the proper time.”

I live in terror now. My honor has blown away in the wind, and my prosperity has vanished like a cloud.“ And now my life seeps away. Depression haunts my days.At night my bones are filled with pain, which gnaws at me relentlessly.With a strong hand, God grabs my shirt. He grips me by the collar of my coat.He has thrown me into the mud. I’m nothing more than dust and ashes.“ I cry to you, O God, but you don’t answer. I stand before you, but you don’t even look.You have become cruel toward me. You use your power to persecute me.You throw me into the whirlwind and destroy me in the storm.And I know you are sending me to my death— the destination of all who live.“ Surely no one would turn against the needy when they cry for help in their trouble.Did I not weep for those in trouble? Was I not deeply grieved for the needy?So I looked for good, but evil came instead. I waited for the light, but darkness fell.My heart is troubled and restless. Days of suffering torment me.I walk in gloom, without sunlight. I stand in the public square and cry for help.Instead, I am considered a brother to jackals and a companion to owls.My skin has turned dark, and my bones burn with fever.My harp plays sad music, and my flute accompanies those who weep.
