But it is wrong to say God doesn’t listen, to say the Almighty isn’t concerned.

Indeed, God does not listen to their empty plea; the Almighty pays no attention to it.

And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong— you want only what will give you pleasure.

After all, God is in heaven, and you are here on earth. So let your words be few.Too much activity gives you restless dreams; too many words make you a fool.

The Lord detests the sacrifice of the wicked, but he delights in the prayers of the upright.

“ When you pray, don’t babble on and on as the Gentiles do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again.

I will not accept your burnt offerings and grain offerings. I won’t even notice all your choice peace offerings.

For what hope do the godless have when God cuts them off and takes away their life?Will God listen to their cry when trouble comes upon them?

Listen to his instructions, and store them in your heart.If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored— so clean up your life.If you give up your lust for money and throw your precious gold into the river,the Almighty himself will be your treasure. He will be your precious silver!“ Then you will take delight in the Almighty and look up to God.You will pray to him, and he will hear you, and you will fulfill your vows to him.
