But if God is quiet, who can condemn him? If he hides his face, then who can see him? Yet he is over the individual and the nation alike,

上帝安人、誰能罪之、上帝掩面、誰能覲之、於國於人皆然、

主所福、誰能禍之、主所禍、誰能福之、其待人或一國、或匹夫、無二理也。

天主賜人綏安、誰能擾亂、天主若掩面、誰能覲之、其待一國待一人皆如是、

But if he remains silent, who can condemn him? If he hides his face, who can see him? Yet he is over individual and nation alike,

But if he remains silent, who can judge him? If he turns his face away, who can see him? He rules over individual people and nations alike.

When he is quiet, who can condemn? When he hides his face, who can behold him, whether it be a nation or a man?—

But if he chooses to remain quiet, who can criticize him? When he hides his face, no one can find him, whether an individual or a nation.

But when God is silent, who can declare him guilty? When he hides his face, who can see him? Yet he watches over both individuals and nations,

When He keeps quiet, who can condemn? And when He hides His face, who then can look at Him, That is, regarding both nation and a person?—

When He gives quietness, who then can make trouble? And when He hides His face, who then can see Him, Whether it is against a nation or a man alone?—

When he giveth quietness, who then can condemn? And when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? Alike whether it be done unto a nation, or unto a man:

But when God is silent, who can declare Him guilty? When He hides His face, who can see Him? Yet He watches over both individuals and nations,

When he giveth quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hideth[ his] face, who then can behold him? whether[ it be done] against a nation, or against a man only:

When he gives quietness, who then can condemn? When he hides his face, who then can see him? He is over a nation or a man alike,

But he is unchangeable, and who can change him? Whatever he has desired, he does.

You keep completely safe the people who maintain their faith, for they trust in you.

Do not reject me! Do not push your servant away in anger! You are my deliverer! Do not forsake or abandon me, O God who vindicates me!

How long, LORD, will you continue to ignore me? How long will you pay no attention to me?

Then Job continued his speech:“ O that I could be as I was in the months now gone, in the days when God watched over me,when he caused his lamp to shine upon my head, and by his light I walked through darkness;

O LORD, in your good favor you made me secure. Then you rejected me and I was terrified.

When the LORD gives you relief from your suffering and anxiety, and from the hard labor which you were made to perform,you will taunt the king of Babylon with these words:“ Look how the oppressor has met his end! Hostility has ceased!The LORD has broken the club of the wicked, the scepter of rulers.It furiously struck down nations with unceasing blows. It angrily ruled over nations, oppressing them without restraint.The whole earth rests and is quiet; they break into song.The evergreens also rejoice over your demise, as do the cedars of Lebanon, singing,‘ Since you fell asleep, no woodsman comes up to chop us down!’

Answer me quickly, LORD! My strength is fading. Do not reject me, or I will join those descending into the grave.

But suppose a nation or a kingdom will not be subject to King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. Suppose it will not submit to the yoke of servitude to him. I, the LORD, affirm that I will punish that nation. I will use the king of Babylon to punish it with war, starvation, and disease until I have destroyed it.

What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?Indeed, he who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all– how will he not also, along with him, freely give us all things?Who will bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.Who is the one who will condemn? Christ is the one who died( and more than that, he was raised), who is at the right hand of God, and who also is interceding for us.

And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

“ If I go to the east, he is not there, and to the west, yet I do not perceive him.In the north when he is at work, I do not see him; when he turns to the south, I see no trace of him.

Fairness will produce peace and result in lasting security.

All the leaders of the priests and people became more unfaithful and committed the same horrible sins practiced by the nations. They defiled the LORD’s temple which he had consecrated in Jerusalem.The LORD God of their ancestors continually warned them through his messengers, for he felt compassion for his people and his dwelling place.But they mocked God’s messengers, despised his warnings, and ridiculed his prophets. Finally the LORD got very angry at his people and there was no one who could prevent his judgment.He brought against them the king of the Babylonians, who slaughtered their young men in their temple. He did not spare young men or women, or even the old and aging. God handed everyone over to him.

If he tears down, it cannot be rebuilt; if he imprisons a person, there is no escape.

In the fourth year of King Hezekiah’s reign( it was the seventh year of the reign of Israel’s King Hoshea, son of Elah), King Shalmaneser of Assyria marched up against Samaria and besieged it.After three years he captured it( in the sixth year of Hezekiah’s reign); in the ninth year of King Hoshea’s reign over Israel Samaria was captured.The king of Assyria deported the people of Israel to Assyria. He settled them in Halah, along the Habor( the river of Gozan), and in the cities of the Medes.This happened because they did not obey the LORD their God and broke his agreement with them. They did not pay attention to and obey all that Moses, the LORD’s servant, had commanded.

“ Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; I do not give it to you as the world does. Do not let your hearts be distressed or lacking in courage.

The king settled into his palace, for the LORD gave him relief from all his enemies on all sides.
