Remember, the sins of some people are obvious, leading them to certain judgment. But there are others whose sins will not be revealed until later.

Those who sin should be reprimanded in front of the whole church; this will serve as a strong warning to others.

And the kings of the world who committed adultery with her and enjoyed her great luxury will mourn for her as they see the smoke rising from her charred remains.They will stand at a distance, terrified by her great torment. They will cry out,“ How terrible, how terrible for you, O Babylon, you great city! In a single moment God’s judgment came on you.”

“ This is what the Lord says: Because of what you have done, I will cause your own household to rebel against you. I will give your wives to another man before your very eyes, and he will go to bed with them in public view.You did it secretly, but I will make this happen to you openly in the sight of all Israel.”

Rejoice over her fate, O heaven and people of God and apostles and prophets! For at last God has judged her for your sakes.

Then all the men of his town must stone him to death. In this way, you will purge this evil from among you, and all Israel will hear about it and be afraid.

You must put them to death! The godly will rejoice when they see injustice avenged. They will wash their feet in the blood of the wicked.Then at last everyone will say,“ There truly is a reward for those who live for God; surely there is a God who judges justly here on earth.”

That is how the Lord rescued Israel from the hand of the Egyptians that day. And the Israelites saw the bodies of the Egyptians washed up on the seashore.
