He makes them turn from doing wrong; he keeps them from pride.

好叫人不从自己的谋算，不行骄傲的事，

好叫人转离自己的行为，叫壮士远离骄傲，

好叫人转离自己的行为，叫壮士远离骄傲，

使他们离开罪恶，不再骄傲，

好叫人离开自己的恶行，又叫人与骄傲隔绝，

使他們離開罪惡，不再驕傲，

使人改其意志、遏其驕矜、

使人改過、去其驕心、

使人改其惡行、去其驕心、

to turn them from wrongdoing and keep them from pride,

He warns them in order to turn them away from sinning. He wants to keep them from being proud.

that he may turn man aside from his deed and conceal pride from a man;

in order to turn a person from his actions and suppress the pride of a person.

So that He may turn a person away from bad conduct, And keep a man from pride;

In order to turn man from his deed, And conceal pride from man,

That he may withdraw man from his purpose, And hide pride from man;

in order to turn a person from his actions and suppress his pride.

That he may withdraw man[ from his] purpose, and hide pride from man.

to turn a person from his sin, and to cover a person’s pride.

“ For this reason I will fence her in with thornbushes. I will block her path with a wall to make her lose her way.

even though I have received such wonderful revelations from God. So to keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud.

He fed you with manna in the wilderness, a food unknown to your ancestors. He did this to humble you and test you for your own good.

My days are over. My hopes have disappeared. My heart’s desires are broken.

Human pride will be brought down, and human arrogance will be humbled. Only the Lord will be exalted on that day of judgment.

He requested letters addressed to the synagogues in Damascus, asking for their cooperation in the arrest of any followers of the Way he found there. He wanted to bring them— both men and women— back to Jerusalem in chains.As he was approaching Damascus on this mission, a light from heaven suddenly shone down around him.He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him,“ Saul! Saul! Why are you persecuting me?”“ Who are you, lord?” Saul asked. And the voice replied,“ I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting!Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

As he looked out across the city, he said,‘ Look at this great city of Babylon! By my own mighty power, I have built this beautiful city as my royal residence to display my majestic splendor.’“ While these words were still in his mouth, a voice called down from heaven,‘ O King Nebuchadnezzar, this message is for you! You are no longer ruler of this kingdom.You will be driven from human society. You will live in the fields with the wild animals, and you will eat grass like a cow. Seven periods of time will pass while you live this way, until you learn that the Most High rules over the kingdoms of the world and gives them to anyone he chooses.’“ That same hour the judgment was fulfilled, and Nebuchadnezzar was driven from human society. He ate grass like a cow, and he was drenched with the dew of heaven. He lived this way until his hair was as long as eagles’ feathers and his nails were like birds’ claws.“ After this time had passed, I, Nebuchadnezzar, looked up to heaven. My sanity returned, and I praised and worshiped the Most High and honored the one who lives forever. His rule is everlasting, and his kingdom is eternal.All the people of the earth are nothing compared to him. He does as he pleases among the angels of heaven and among the people of the earth. No one can stop him or say to him,‘ What do you mean by doing these things?’“ When my sanity returned to me, so did my honor and glory and kingdom. My advisers and nobles sought me out, and I was restored as head of my kingdom, with even greater honor than before.“ Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and glorify and honor the King of heaven. All his acts are just and true, and he is able to humble the proud.”

Just then, as Pilate was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent him this message:“ Leave that innocent man alone. I suffered through a terrible nightmare about him last night.”

Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.

In the dream God responded,“ Yes, I know you are innocent. That’s why I kept you from sinning against me, and why I did not let you touch her.

The Lord of Heaven’s Armies has done it to destroy your pride and bring low all earth’s nobility.

But Hezekiah did not respond appropriately to the kindness shown him, and he became proud. So the Lord’s anger came against him and against Judah and Jerusalem.
