“ Suppose my heart has been tempted by a woman. Or suppose I’ve prowled around my neighbor’s home.

“ If my heart has been enticed toward a woman, and I have lain in wait at my neighbor’s door,

If my heart has gone astray over a woman or I have lurked at my neighbor’s door,

“ If my heart has been enticed by a woman, Or I have lurked at my neighbor’s doorway,

“ If my heart has been enticed by a woman, Or if I have lurked at my neighbor’s door,

If my heart hath been enticed unto a woman, And I have laid wait at my neighbor’s door;

If my heart has been seduced by my neighbor’s wife or I have lurked at his door,

If mine heart have been deceived by a woman, or[ if] I have laid wait at my neighbour’s door;

If my heart has been enticed by a woman, and I have lain in wait at my neighbor’s door,

“ If my heart has been enticed to a woman, and I have laid wait at my neighbor’s door,

The rulers of the Philistines went to her and said,“ Entice Samson to tell you what makes him so strong and how he can be overpowered and tied up securely. Then each of us will give you 1,100 pieces of silver.”

I discovered that a seductive woman is a trap more bitter than death. Her passion is a snare, and her soft hands are chains. Those who are pleasing to God will escape her, but sinners will be caught in her snare.

In Solomon’s old age, they turned his heart to worship other gods instead of being completely faithful to the Lord his God, as his father, David, had been.

“ Wasn’t this exactly what led King Solomon of Israel into sin?” I demanded.“ There was no king from any nation who could compare to him, and God loved him and made him king over all Israel. But even he was led into sin by his foreign wives.

They are well fed, lusty stallions, each neighing for his neighbor’s wife.

The mouth of an immoral woman is a dangerous trap; those who make the Lord angry will fall into it.

They are all adulterers, always aflame with lust. They are like an oven that is kept hot while the baker is kneading the dough.

The adulterer waits for the twilight, saying,‘ No one will see me then.’ He hides his face so no one will know him.Thieves break into houses at night and sleep in the daytime. They are not acquainted with the light.

Wisdom will save you from the immoral woman, from the seductive words of the promiscuous woman.She has abandoned her husband and ignores the covenant she made before God.Entering her house leads to death; it is the road to the grave.The man who visits her is doomed. He will never reach the paths of life.

Don’t lust for her beauty. Don’t let her coy glances seduce you.

So she seduced him with her pretty speech and enticed him with her flattery.

For the lips of an immoral woman are as sweet as honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil.But in the end she is as bitter as poison, as dangerous as a double edged sword.Her feet go down to death; her steps lead straight to the grave.For she cares nothing about the path to life. She staggers down a crooked trail and doesn’t realize it.So now, my sons, listen to me. Never stray from what I am about to say:Stay away from her! Don’t go near the door of her house!If you do, you will lose your honor and will lose to merciless people all you have achieved.Strangers will consume your wealth, and someone else will enjoy the fruit of your labor.In the end you will groan in anguish when disease consumes your body.You will say,“ How I hated discipline! If only I had not ignored all the warnings!Oh, why didn’t I listen to my teachers? Why didn’t I pay attention to my instructors?I have come to the brink of utter ruin, and now I must face public disgrace.”Drink water from your own well— share your love only with your wife.Why spill the water of your springs in the streets, having sex with just anyone?You should reserve it for yourselves. Never share it with strangers.Let your wife be a fountain of blessing for you. Rejoice in the wife of your youth.She is a loving deer, a graceful doe. Let her breasts satisfy you always. May you always be captivated by her love.Why be captivated, my son, by an immoral woman, or fondle the breasts of a promiscuous woman?For the Lord sees clearly what a man does, examining every path he takes.An evil man is held captive by his own sins; they are ropes that catch and hold him.He will die for lack of self control; he will be lost because of his great foolishness.
